I boo most of the opposition when I watch games, depends on what they’re doing - keepers taking too long; throw ins taking too long;unsportsmanlike behaviour... all get boos from me. Why should Bong be exempt...?

I can’t speak for the Burnley fans at the game who elected to boo Bong, but I would hazard a guess not a single one of them booed him due to his colour.pushpinpussy wrote:i thought we would have learnt a lesson. still a lot of racism amongst us. we never learn

Can’t believe they’re still trying to get some mileage out of this, especially with two paid up KKK members sat in the crowd.

Saints fans, WBA fans, Burnley fans all booed Bong. Even Brighton fans might get that it's because they really like Jay.

Bong is rubbish, every time I see Brighton I wonder how he gets starts in the Premier League.

Re: Bong
I have actually been on the game. Unlike the majority who have posted on here and believe me there was racism aimed towards him and as rightly pointed out people were thrown out. However bury your heads as usual and we are squeaky clean. Race riots. Never.
Re: Bong
Classier thing to do would be to let this whole episode die a death. Fair enough, the allegation was not proven, and we all know Jay said nothing of the sort, but it's not entirely unreasonable to perceive the braindead targeting of Bong as hostility towards the process of reporting and investigating alleged racism. Any yes, I know we're not hostile to that, but optics matter and we're leaving ourselves vulnerable. I personally think it's disrespectful given the unique circumstances. He wasn't being boo'd for time wasting or a bad tackle, let's be real. Is it really worth it?

Re: Bong
Race riots?Do you mean that time when a large number of Asian males took to the streets, mainly around Duke Bar,to attach white owned cars, shops and housing. You have probably forgotton they forced the landlady of the Old Duke and her young family to leave the pub before petrol bombing it .pushpinpussy wrote:I have actually been on the game. It is also weird to accept the word of Bong just because he is black.Very unfair to label it as racism, now T---ism maybe because that is what Bong comes across as.Dyched wrote:That’s the thing. Re: Bong
I’m not accepting what Bong said. I’ll remain neutral has I don’t know what was said. I most certainly won’t form my opinion on the fact that Jay used to wear a claret and blue t shirt. Cos that’d stupid.Lord Rothbury wrote:It is also weird to accept the word of Bong just because he is black.Very unfair to label it as racism, now T---ism maybe because that is what Bong comes across as.

Re: Bong
No one knows what was said and what wasn't. Even if Rodriguez didn't say it Bong may genuinely believe that he did say it. All booing achieves is gives the media the opportunity to criticize and results in fines etc. Totally pointless. Oh and there are definitely racists in our fan base as there are in every club. There is definitely a racist element behind some of the booing although not the reason behind the majority of people booing.

Re: Bong
I appreciate the majority of posters on this forum don’t travel away with the Clarets. For whatever reasons. However yesterday Bong was booed every time he camr near the away fans and he was constantly called every name under the sun by our less intelligent supporters. Just because racism was not being chanted in a song doesn’t make it right. A lot of you on here who don’t attend games anymore and still stuck in the 80’s appear to be justifying it. It was embarrassing and it’s wrong.
