The run in
Who do you think has the toughest? Would you trade our position and run in for anyone elses?
Brighton look in big danger to me. Palaces looks tough but they have a good side especially up top.

Us and Cardiff have a bit of fight in us.
But it's wins you need at this stage now. 4 or 5 isn't easy when it's not been a habit all season.

Been listening to quite a lot of radio and podcast chatter about us this week.
All seem pretty confident we will be ok, but I'm not sure they have really looked at the fixture list.

We are showing that. At the right time. The reality is 2 wins and a draw or 3 wins and we should be safe with a gap to spare.Quickenthetempo wrote:Us and Cardiff have a bit of fight in us.

I guess the thing we have learnt is how quickly things can change. Hopefuly that inspires us even more.

The way we are playing I think we can get a result against anyone.... certainly at home. If NUFC can be beat City, we can.

Re: The run in
Are our last four games really much harder than say Brighton's who have Wolves, Newcastle, Arsenal & Man City to play?
Re: The run in
Four or five wins takes us to 39 or 42 points, before you add in any draws. We won't need that many.Quickenthetempo wrote:Us and Cardiff have a bit of fight in us.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again with our current upward trajectory I really am very confident that we will be far away from the drop zone, so just relax...and another thing what do the Welsh know about football anyway

Re: The run in
We`ll get nowt from Spurs, a point from Newcastle, 3 from Palace, bugger all from Liverpool then one a piece from Leicester & Wolves. Follow that lot up with a hugely disappointing performance at Bournemouth yielding a deserved big fat zero, 3 points and an easy 3-0 win against Cardiff and the inevitable 0 + 0 against Chelsea and Man City. We will get a deserved point from a 3-3 draw at Goodison before the season draws an end, as it always does, with defeat against Arsenal.
That lot will leave us on 37 points...
Over to the rest of `em!

Ill feel a lot more confident if we can pick up another 9 points from the next 7 games. Those final 4 dont fill me with confidence.

No. I'm quite confident, but I'd want us to be well clear by the time we get to our last four.
Its going to be tough but if we keep performing like we are, then we will have no problems.

I don't think people have noticed all the games where the relegation rivals all play each other, where points have to be gained.

Re: The run in
It’s good that we are down there, it will make for an exciting finish.
Cardiff have some very winnable fixtures. Brighton have Huddersfield, Cardiff and Southampton at home in their next three. Much depends on if those two can get some form going. Cardiff’s upturn is due to the tragedy but that May start to weigh down on them in time.

Agree if we stay up looking back it will have been more exciting than finishing 11th for example. All to play for in every game.CrosspoolClarets wrote:It’s good that we are down there, it will make for an exciting finish.

Re: The run in
Looking at the points 38 has kept you up almost every season since the league became 20 teams. So 3 wins and a draw would do that. Which isnt beyond the realms of possibility even excluding our last 4 games. Of course our run will end sooner or later so thats a problem in itself. But we are the form team and the ones most likely to get the required results.
I still think we need at least a 6 point gap going into those last 4 games.
34 is often enough. The problem we have though is by huddersfield being THAT bad it actually makes it harder for us. As it means the points needed will probably be higher.
Going off our record against teams in this league previously we are likely to get
Spurs 0 points
Newcastle 1 point
Palace 3 points
Liverpool 0 points
Leicester 3 points
Wolves 0 points
Bournemouth 3 points
Cardiff 3 points
Chelsea 0 points
Man City 0 points
Everton 0 points
Arsenal 0 points
That would see us gain 13 more points finishing on 42. Obviously it doesnt always work on history. But losing 7 of our remaining games goes against the form book and still gives us enough to spare.
But we have to aim to get something out of every game. Beating an injury hit spurs with bigger fish to fry would be a fantastic start. Up until recently we have a reasonable record against them at home and we can do it.
We have beaten all of everton, city and chelsea at least once in our time in this league and it wouldnt be a shock if we got something from one of those 3 games.
We are well overdue a home win vs wolves. But equally games v Palace, Cardiff, Newcastle are huge and may be potentially more difficult and nervy where not losing may become more important than winning depending how the game pans out.
One things for sure. Id rather Dyche at the helm than anyone else. And with backs against the wall, important results needed he almost always shines. A Forest at home 2014 performance or Derby 2016 in some of those would be bloody lovely. Out the blocks. At them early. Kill them off. Suppose Brighton just gone was like that.

That will be interesting as they have just announced 4% season ticket price rises (again) with cheapest now being £535 and reduced the number and location of coaches on the discounted travel schemes to their own groundjedi_master wrote:I believe, and hope, that Brighton will be the ones to drop.

Yes, hearing a lot of "They'll be alright" but it's going off current trends not necessarily looking at where the points will come from.Lancasterclaret wrote:Been listening to quite a lot of radio and podcast chatter about us this week.

The same folk also suggesting the safety points total will be higher than the average this season.
Re: The run in
In our current run we've comfortably taken points off Watford, West Ham & Man U. Hardly relegation fodder.CombatClaret wrote:Yes, hearing a lot of "They'll be alright" but it's going off current trends not necessarily looking at where the points will come from.
You'd think we've just been playing the teams around us.
Re: The run in
The last four matches look incredibly tough but we took 7 points from those fixtures last year with wins away at Chelsea and Everton and a home draw against City. Not saying we can repeat, but we must surely be due a bit of luck against Arsenal!

Everton (h) L
Man City (a) D
Chelsea (a) D
Arsenal (h) L
At that stage of the season some finishing league positions are already decided so teams tend to give youngsters a chance, let players carrying injuries have an earlier op or are just playing the season out trying to avoid injuries for their summer breaks. Also, maybe they are in a cup final (FA cup/Champ League/Europa) and want to rest certain players to ensure they are fit for these games.
Whilst it is undoubtedly a daunting last 4 fixtures for us, there are points to be picked up with the right attitude and fight.
