Smith seems to be the worst! Not sure he understands what is on and offside!

Ross Sykes is a 19yr old giant Burnley/Padiham lad who was released by Burnley at 13 for being too small.

Smith upfront for Accy is a bit like Jamie Vardy. On loan from QPR.

There is a Smyth playing for Stanley ... On loan from QPR and he's been excellent. Dunne, based on first half has been ordinary.
Sykes the promising 6 feet 7 inch 19 year old centre half has looked ok (was he really released by Burnley when he was 13?)

Well...if he's playing for Accy in league one, releasing him may have been a good thing.

I just v don't get how this Paul Smyth is on loan from QPR to Accrington... He's been outstanding and based on this performance alone if say he should be at a higher level...

Accrington have played brilliantly....

It was a good game with plenty to enjoy and probably a fair result in the end. Well done to all three teams who did their job well without any real fuss.

He did and I was watching it with his dad who is a good mate of mine!! We were going to go to the Stadium of Light but Darren said that there is no hospitality for the friends of the officials and they don't even like giving tickets at Sunderland!

Miserable sods

Did his dad referee? My daughter finishes her course aged 14 tomorrow. Already asking when can I do my first game

Another blow to Sunderland's auto promotion hopes, decent point for Accy but could have been more,Luton looking good but the 2nd spot is up for grabs, between Barnsley,Sunderland and Pompey, unless one of the chasing pack goes on a crazy winning run.

His dad did referee but only in the RAF and also non-league level, He was also a board member of the Northumberland Football Association intil a couple of years ago and did a lot of work to progress referees and also to promote the game in the County.
Darren has had a mixed career as far as his refereeing is concerned and has probably lacked consistency, however, a lot of that was due to his career in the RAF which saw him doing a lot of things which 'normal people' don't experience!
I agree about Sunderland though, in fact, I was very surprised when Jim, his dad, told me about it.

Good luck to your daughter and I hope that she enjoysdoing the job ---nobody said that it was easy!!

If they don't get promoted, either auto or through the play-offs,can Jack Ross survive,or will they be looking for a big name,he's unproven in England yet and a League 1 club that can splash out 4 million on Will Grigg as a deadline day signing, should be going up.

Watched the 2nd half, and have to say it's one of the best half's I've seen all season. Surprised how much football Accy played. I was very impressed. Obviously took special note of our CB Dunne. On this showing I'd think a further year at the 2nd or 3rd level will be on the cards for his development.

Ross Sykes has been at Accy for a while and not been a regular - not sure if he’s been injured or just struggling to make the team. I saw him play as a kid - he was ok but didn’t stand out as someone who would make it. Extremely driven dad who pushed him very hard.

Accrington were the better team for most of the match. Just didn't hold the two goal lead long enough which enabled Sunderland to rally and get back level. A good game to watch, though and Stanley played some very neat, impressive first touch football at times.

After watching the Southend and Portsmouth game as well, I have to say some decent football in league one.
Seems a lot better than when we were last there.

4

They have thrown a lot of silly points away recently, and have games in hand over all the teams below them, but the danger signs are there.

By a strange quirk of fate their next 4 league games are all at home,a decent haul of points from those should see them clear of trouble.

Not sure too much of other teams in that league that season, but if you look at some of the players who played for the team that finished second the last time we were at that level, thay had some seriously good players.
