O/T I want to come home
Re: O/T I want to come home
Lancaster and friends, what do you have to do that means you can't wait thirty seconds in a queue behind an older person or, shock, a female? Life that busy? Mind, thirty seconds might count in the toilets at the Turf so I tend to stand behind a youngie.

I think houseboy was claiming that he never stands behind muslims in supermarket queues. I didn't quite understand his reasoning for it to be honest.ngsobob wrote:Lancaster and friends, what do you have to do that means you can't wait thirty seconds in a queue behind an older person or, shock, a female? It was a pisstake on houseboys stance to be fair.
I'm a very calm person in supermarkets. Especially now they have self check out scanners.

Re: O/T I want to come home
I think you may underestimate the level of hurt people feel at what ISIS did, not only in the Arab states but to innocent Westerners, including Brits. I know what you mean and it does seem a bit of a vigilante stance from many but there is only so much people can tolerate before the hatred creeps in. I have no problem at all with Muslims and count many as friends and they hate the fundimentalist killers as much as us, many of them more so as they are getting tarred with the same brush, but I despise anyone (and I mean anyone) who will kill or cause harm in the name of any god. I can think of nothing more pointless than fighting over religion and people who will kill for their religion may as well fight over the tooth fairy or father christmas. I think it was in Gullivers Travels where people fought for the big enders or little enders, depending on which end you thought you should eat a boiled egg. That is my view of religious violence.Lancasterclaret wrote:So lets make a sliding scale of punishments for her based on the public vote
- 1,000,000 - hung, drawn and quartered (inc unborn baby)
- 750,000 - beaten to death and then hung upside down from a lampost
- 500,000 - shot through both legs and dumped to die in the desert
- 250,000 - decapitated because she needs to know how ISIS victims feel
I don't want her back, have no interest if she lives or dies but I'm a bit uneasy about a lot of the sentiment shown on here.

Its 100% a vigilante stance HB. Thats why I have a problem with it.
And please remember that ideally she won't come back here. But she probably will, and thats where we have to be slightly realistic about that.

Why waste an hour of your week in the supermarket when you can do your shopping on your 12 minute Friday morning commute!!

Re: O/T I want to come home
I'll explain - it's simple really - they do often (but not in every case) tend to take a great deal of time to check out. Simples.Rileybobs wrote:I think houseboy was claiming that he never stands behind muslims in supermarket queues. I didn't quite understand his reasoning for it to be honest.
I hate supermarket checkouts.
Ergo: I tend to avoid anything that keeps me standing in one for longer than I have to.
For what it's worth I also hate it when people go through self-service checkouts then ask a member of staff to put stuff through for them (thus not actually self-checking) whilst said staff member is needed to authorise my booze but is otherwise engaged.
You may have gathered by now that I have problems with patience. I hate queues.

Arrange for her folks to move permanently to Syria so she can have the family she craves. The flights cost will be more than ofset by the benefits she would have got here

Surely we ought to wait until the appropriate authorities have investigated this case before making any decision? We don't even know if she has done anything illegal yet.
Reminds of a fellow I know who proudly told me that, after ISIS had killed a British journalist, he went down our local Tesco's and had a go at a very pleasant muslim girl who worked on the counters there, as if she had actually done the deed.

They have got these hand held scanners now which you walk around and scan as you shop. It's revolutionised the LC family shop.

It's amazing, isn't it? We shouldn't give 16 year olds the right to vote because we don't think they're responcible enough for such important decisions. But here's an idiot who made a decision at 15 years old and many of those same people think that she should be held so responsible for it that she is irredeemable, and that her child should also pay for it.
We're a spiteful population, packed with hypocrites who hate the principles that this country pretends to fight for.

Had she come out and said it was a mistake, she was only 15 and wished she'd never done it, you may have had a point.

Let her rot in an ISIS camp after all that’s the life she want. Failing that a bullet through her skull if she dares to step foot on UK soil again.
Re: O/T I want to come home
Interestingly other European Countries are quite soft on returning fighters. France is about to repatriate a load more even after all the terrorist acts that have occurred there. Germany had the second largest number that went to ‘fight’ and I wonder how many of these were let in under its open arms policy. In Denmark though you get access to housing, employment, mentoring, education and medical care in addition to housing even after beheafing people.

Re: O/T I want to come home
So what? In this country we put people on trial and sentence them before we punish them. Denying a citizen of this country entry to this country, without putting them on trial, without convicting them and without sentencing them, is an even more anti-western attitude than anything this dumb **** has expressed. In fact it's more akin to what we claim to oppose.FactualFrank wrote:How about a 19 year old who has no regrets about what she did when she was 15?

I wasn't aware that her father hated this country also. What's he said or done that demonstrates that hatred?
Please tell me there's actually something he's said/done and you're not just assuming he hates us because he's a Muslim.

Her father thinks she was groomed for this, according to the wikipedia page for her. So i'm kinda wondering where all the anti-groomer mob are. Oh, that's right, they're wanting to put a bullet in her head.
I guess she's the wrong colour to be a proper victim of grooming.

I don't think many people feel sorry for her for that reason. I certainly don't. I just don't want to live in a country that turns its back on its own people just because they're not nice people. Seriously, turning their back on her if they don't let her come home for free healthcare because she's pregnant. She isn't fazed by a bucket full of heads and shows no regret or remorse for her actions and this country. This isn't about religion because there are many peacefful muslims living here alongside christians. She turned her back on her country when she made her choice to go. Let her live with her decision and who's to say she isn't still radicalised.Imploding Turtle wrote:I don't think many people feel sorry for her for that reason. I certainly don't. Re: O/T I want to come home
If we refuse to let her back in the country then this country is not only turning its back on a Briton, it's doing it outside the judicial process. If she has committed crimes then she should be tried for them. And she shouldn't be punished for crimes that we are not prepared to put her on trial for. That's one of the most fundamental principles we've held for centuries, isn't it?Firthy wrote:Seriously, turning their back on her if they don't let her come home for free healthcare because she's pregnant. She isn't fazed by a bucket full of heads and shows no regret or remorse for her actions and this country. This isn't about religion because there are many peacefful muslims living here alongside christians. She turned her back on her country when she made her choice to go. Let her live with her decision and who's to say she isn't still radicalised.
I personally don't think anything she's done is beyond redemption, and even if i did i'd still want her to be put on trial for the crimes she's accused of.
Anyone who wants to punish her and refuse her entry to her own country without going through our judicial process to prosecute her is not someone who hold the principles of this country in very high regard. The difference between them and her is that at least she's honest about hating what this country stands for.
