Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
I reckon that would set us up nicely on 34 points and then probably just a win away from being safe. So beat Cardiff and either Wolves or Leicester and then a point at Newcastle seems likely on current form. Not expecting anything against Spurs or Scousers. Anyone disagree?

Re: Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
I know it sounds incredibly boring, but I still ultimately see this season as a one game at a time scenario. Turn up - get points - move on. We should have beaten Manchester United and Old Trafford. Yet we should have got beat away at Cardiff City. It's impossible to predict as we're going to pick up points when it's least expected. And we'll draw/drop points when we should be winning.
Re: Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
Six out of the next eight matches are very winnable games.

Might have got my games/dates a little mixed up but yes agree Frank it’s likely not to go the way we expect each game.
Re: Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
Knowing us, we are more likely to win the suposedly unwinnable games and lose the others.
Game at a time has served us so well over the last four years. That is the approach we need to keep to.

Not bothered as long as we relegate Brighton on the last day, well last minute really.

I certainly wouldn't rule out a result against Spurs, they have been winning PL games but not convincingly,we could have nicked a point at Wembley during our barren spell pre-xmas,the Man Utd and Southampton games sum up the PL,we where seconds away from a shock win in the 1st,and seconds away from a damaging defeat in the 2nd,it doesn't matter who the points come against, but obviously beating our direct rivals has a big impact on their survival hopes.

Speaking of one game at a time..........It's time we put Tottenham in their place and next week would be a sweet time to do just that.
Just a pity about the nonsense kick-off time, but we'll all be there.

The one thing in our favour is that we look so solid at the moment and even if we don't play well we look like we can get plenty of points.
We look to have regained that ability to make it hard for the opposition to score and in the meantime, create plenty of chances.

We can win all remaining games. That's the way to look at it. Heaton is immense in goal - the best in the Premier League. Barnes and Wood can score against ANY team. We have a solid central defence and a solid central midfield. McNeil is arguably our best player and then we throw into the mix Hendrick, Bardsley and Taylor... EVERY player in our starting 11 is playing well. Every player.

I thnk we'll do it. (Stay up). As Frank says, we're playing very well, and I think we'll p1ss 10 points.
The only reservation I have is if we get injuries in key positions. (Or suspensions in those same areas).

We played Spurs last season just after Tarkowski had got his ban from the Brighton game so Kevin Long was pressed into action.Royboyclaret wrote:Speaking of one game at a time..........It's time we put Tottenham in their place and next week would be a sweet time to do just that.

This time, we'll be at full strength.
Re: Can we get 7 pts from the next six games?
It's really very unpredictable at present apart from
thinking Huddersfield have got too much to do even if they had a really good run
say equivalent to what we have managed in the last 7 games. 4 wins and three draws.
Even that wouldn't get them out of the the bottom three.
Any one or two teams could manage a decent run over the next three or so games
and pull themselves above those fighting it out.
Brighton for instance play Huddersfield, Palace, Cardiff and Southampton in their
4 fixtures in March. 3 of them at home.
Palace play us, Brighton and Huddersfield in March.
Newcastle play us and Huddersfield in their next two home games.
As for us then 7 points from the next 6 games will keep us on course for staying
up. Sounds relatively easy but a couple of bad results in the next two games (Spurs and Newcastle)
and the pressure will be back on and us needing decent points from Palace, Leicester and Wolves at home in March.
And that will not be easy.
If we can maintain the form we've shown over the last 6 or more games then
we should be able to pick up points over the next 7 games. But the must be wins.
Two at least. And a couple of draws ideally.
That would see us on the cusp of staying up and with 34/35 points in the bag before
we play Cardiff at home in April. A win against them and we're safe, me thinks.
But still a long way to go.
I think we all know that.

Don't we have one of if not the best record against teams in the bottom half (out of those around us)?DCWat wrote:Knowing us, we are more likely to win the suposedly unwinnable games and lose the others.

I agree frank, its 1 game @ a time n impossible to predict the premier league, unless your Man City!!FactualFrank wrote:I know it sounds incredibly boring, but I still ultimately see this season as a one game at a time scenario. I’ve not looked, I must admit, but I do think we’ve done well agains those in and around us, this season. That could make a huge difference.Goobs wrote:Don't we have one of if not the best record against teams in the bottom half (out of those around us)?
