Sorry for the delay with the ratings thread but it can only be posted from earth so had to wait for me to get back down.

Exceptional performance before they scored, and actually better than that after.

Thought our keeper, back four and midfield four were outstanding, and the only person who I thought struggled was Barnes.

But the subs were perfectly timed, and both Brady and JBG took full advantage of the extra space to really help us win the game.

Up there with one of our best performances at this level, and excellent tactical display against one of the best in the business by SD.

Given ourselves a huge chance now to stay up.

Heaton 8 - great save from Kane, and assured all afternoon
Bardsley 8 - no frills and solid
Tarks 9* - back to his best
Mee 9 - as above
Taylor 9 - outstanding again
Hendrick 9 - he's been brilliant in this role and is playing so well
Westwood 9 - high energy performanc
Cork 9 - as above
McNeil 8 - possibly a bit harsh, but he could use the ball better, but still a very good performance
Wood 8 - good again
Barnes 7 - thought he struggled a bit 2nd but in the right place at the right time.

Subs
Brady 7
JBG 7

We look like a side that can beat anyone at the moment, and the turnaround has been incredible. Long may it continue!

I think that might be our most complete Premier League performance. Nothing lucky about it, kept a top class Spurs team at arms length, and carried a real attacking threat.

Heaton - 8 - In truth, made one serious save and other than that wasn't extended. But he's such a calming presence, and on at least 3 occasions his speed of the line snuffed out potentially serious danger at source.

Bardsley - 8 - Thought he defended outstandingly, with the possible exception of when he, just like the officials, switched off for a nonosecond and allowed the quick throw from which Spurs scored to find Kane in space.

Taylor - 9 - He's grown before our very eyes this season and he now looks every inch a Premier League full back. Once again coped consummately when McNeil left him a bit more exposed than we'd normally expect.

Tarkowski - 9 - Like Bardsley, his only real blip was the Spurs goal, and even that is a bit harsh in the circumstances. Defended superbly otherwise.

Mee - 10 - Absolutely flawless. Tarkowski was excellent, but Mee was even better.

Westwood - 9 - Fought like a lion in midfield, and used the ball tidily enough when he got the chance.

Cork - 8 - Not quite as effective as Westwood, but he wasn't far behind.

Hendrick - 9 - Indefatigable up that right hand side. He can probably take Rose out of his pocket now, and he carried a real threat going forward, carrying the ball well, running the channels well, and linking the game excellently. He might think of himself as a central midfielder, but he's looking every inch a right sided midfielder right now.

McNeil - 8 - That turn. What a turn. In truth probably his quietest game for us in possession - he pressed well in the first half, but didn't get a lot of the ball and made a couple of wrong decisions when he did, and he's always a bit prone to getting sucked in when we need him to take the full back when we're defending. But that turn was absolutely sensational - the greatest moment of quality in the game, a game in which Eriksen, Kane, Son and the rest were very much involved. The delivery for the corner was pretty good too, and he was unlucky not to put us 2-1 just before he was subbed.

Barnes - 8 - Grew into the game the longer it went on, and particularly once Spurs had gone 4-4-2, he ran the centre backs ragged.

Wood - 10 - His best game for Burnley by a stretch. When he plays like this, he's unplayable - a combination of pace, physicality, goal threat and a very respectable link up game down the channels. A huge header for the opening goal, involved in the winner, and gave us an outball all afternoon - not unlike Glen Little all those years ago, when he's in form (and he's bang in form right now) he gains about three yards of pace.

JBG - 8 - not sure if on long enough, but he gave us a purposeful threat and owned Rose whilst he was on the pitch, and of course produced a bit of quality for the winner.

Brady - 8 - Much like JBG really. Looked fit, sharp and hungry and ran Aurier going both directions.

Hard to overstate how good this was. Normally, when you beat the top sides, you have to ride your luck a bit, giggle at a bad miss or too, or find your keeper having a the day of his life; and you generally nick a goal with virtually your only chance. Not a bit of it today though. Spurs had a couple of half chances, but apart from a goal that owed a lot to referee and fourth official, nothing clear cut. Our defenders made some superb blocks and stretching tackles a few times, but mostly they just managed the Spurs front players assuredly. And after a quiet, tight first half, we created not just the two chances from which we scored (admittedly with perhaps just a scratch of luck for the opener if indeed it wasn't a corner), but also perhaps 2 or 3 other very good chances. Spurs had more let-offs today than we did.

If this team goes down, it will be a travesty. They've just shown that they're far, far too good to go down.

Subs played a part and Mr Dyche I salute you as it would have been easy to sit in for a pt, those subs were positive and came as soon as spurs went 4-2-4.

As I’ve put on another thread that’s the first time in all our wins v the big sides that I think we’ve actually deserved to win for more than just our defensive play.

Those subs were a bit like a chess grandmaster taking advantage of their opponent's wrong move. Poch chased the game a bit early and went 4-4-2, and it was as though that was exactly what Dyche wanted him to do. It opened up the channels for Burnley, and even before the wide players were swapped we were taking full advantage. But bringing on two players with fresh legs and dynamism to match up against their full backs worked a treat.

What a performance, there was no fluke or luck in that result, a thoroughly deserved 3 points and one of the most enjoyable performances in the top flight I've seen from the Clarets, especially when you take the opposition into account.

A complete performance and very difficult to pick a MOM, such was the performance level across the team. The crowd was great today as well. There was a really positive vibe, almost an air of expectancy, which must be great to play in front of.

Made an excellent Spurs side look completely and utterly ordinary today. Westwood's pressing was really something else with the amount of ground he covered, and Wood's tireless running into the channels gave us an attacking threat all afternoon, capped off by a wonderful header. Not far behind them was Taylor who almost defended the left flank on his own at times (as McNeil is still a little passive defensively). Then there was Tarkowski and Mee who won everything.

Great, complete performance which will go a long way to securing a fourth PL season. Full credit for this run goes to Dyche too, who has turned around what I thought was a sunken ship.

"Up there with one of our best performances at this level, and excellent tactical display against one of the best in the business by SD."

Fully agree, Lancaster.

The most complete performance I can remember from Burnley for a long time.

Dyche was proactive at 1-1 and it rewarded him, bringing on two wingers with guile and ringcraft, they were integral in getting the lead again and then killing the game.

Every player did well. Tarkowski handled Kane incredibly well apart from the lapse in concentration for the equaliser. McNeil’s trick was key to our first goal. Gudmundsson trickery key for the winner. Bardsley’s desire stood out, and Barnes gave them a torrid time.

I thought when I saw the lineup that exposing Foyth would be crucial and so it proved. He was the weak link who we exposed time and again first half and then he was out jumped for our first goal. The lad was probably the worst player on the pitch which says so much about how far we have come.

We’re obviously not going down, we’re too good and too confident. Probably 6 points needed to be sure.

I'm rewatching the match.. its hard to focus on players performance while watching. I would rate everyone a 9... and put this team performance just behind the 19% possesion 2-0win over liverpool. Tottenham never really troubled us save that 1 goal.

I cant see a single lapse of judgement/error during the full 90 mins.

Thought Burnley got better as the game went on and I can’t remember a game that I was watching where Dyche made two attacking substitutions to the win the game rather than subs on to defend...brilliant!

Heaton 9
Bardsley 8
Tarkowski 9
Mee 9
Taylor 8
Hendrick 8
Westwood 10
Cork 9
McNeil 8
Barnes 8
Wood 9

Can’t remember if the subs were on long enough.

Heaton 9 - what a save
Bardsley 8 - solid and reliable
Tarkowski 10* - one of the best CB performances I’ve seen in a BFC shirt
Mee 9 - like Tarky, kept Kane and then Llorente quiet
Taylor 9 - said from the start that he was gonna be a good en, outstanding again
Hendrick 9 - kept Rose quiet and was a threat going forward
Westwood 8 - continued his excellent form with another tidy display
Cork 8 - was everywhere
McNeil 8 - produced the best bit of skill in the entire match and grabbed another assist to boot
Barnes 8 - him and Wood caused them all sorts of problems with their movement in the channels
Wood 9 - most underrated player in our team! Unplayable at times

JBG 8 - his ball control in the short time he was on was so good
Brady 7 - helped stretch play for us

Great to see these two back and they definitely have a big part to play.

Absolutely outstanding team performance.

claretspice wrote:I think that might be our most complete Premier League performance.
