Still playing same system

Re: Lack of options
Crouch and Vydra are both different to what we have on the pitch, no sign of either though

I just dont understand at times. Great subs against spurs.
Today losing and keep the same system just change the personel when it wasnt working.
Games like this show how bad our windows were.

We’ve a 38 year old on the bench to surprise them with you know. We can bypass midfield too. That’ll show ‘em.

Re: Lack of options
it's not about the players at anybody's disposal as most teams in this league have better players. It's an inability to affect a game within it that cost us

more of a shame is when the crowd only turn up for games against the big boys, huge game today and it sounded extraordinarily quite

Re: Lack of options
Tactically outclassed today in every area of the pitch. They won every battle in every department. The result was only going 1 way. These astute managers that have been around for years and tactically adapt to the oppositions strengths and expose their weaknesses don't just throw out the same 11 week after week and expect the same approach to work every single week regardless of opponent.

To be fair palaces fans are far better than ours. Our lot were intimidated from the outset.Vegas Claret wrote:more of a shame is when the crowd only turn up for games against the big boys, huge game today and it sounded extraordinarily quite

Whether he did or didn’t (suggest the username provides the answer as you’ll well have known) he’s right about the atmosphere, it was poor.Burnley1989 wrote:Did you go on?

Dycherannosaurus knows that eventually tw@ting it forward aimlessly will lead to a goal.

Re: Lack of options
Crouch isn’t really an option. He’s bang average and more like a tourist attraction at the game than a footballer you expect to do anything.
Shambles today. Final ball of McNeil, Westwood and Bardsley was awful.

Crowd was excellent against Spurs, today was a bigger game and from kick off it was poor - tbh, it's been poor for a long timeBurnley1989 wrote:Don’t mean to be a d!ck, I sit in the Bob lord, which is a sh!te atmosphere but when the team play **** it just annoys me that we turn on the fans

Crystal Palace pay their players over 100k a week. They shouldn't even be in the position they currently are. No surprise they defeated us so comfortably really.

Re: Lack of options
Making subs late is becoming a habit-whats wrong with half time or just after if someone is having a quiet game
Same applies in team selection. Too many of our players have two or three bad games in a row then start the next one. Doesn't happen at Southampton, Newcastle, or Palace all near the bottom
Some positions are difficult to change ie the back four, but McNeil needs a rest and either Robbie or JBG should start. McNeil could be quite an impact in the last 20-25 minutes. We complain about having a small squad then dont change things when playing bad. Cork should also be rested but in this case do you start Hendrick & Westwood ??

Re: Lack of options
What I'm trying to say is Palace have far superior players. Teams with far superior players beat teams like us 9 times out of 10. Luckily we beat Spurs that one time.Granny WeatherWax wrote:Like spurs do?
Re: Lack of options
We felt at 2.0 down Crouch should have been on, when he did we saw what havoc he can cause.

I know not everyone follows others teams, but its basic football knowledge that the Crystal Palace manager is Roy Hodgson.bfcjg wrote:Like Raneiri?

We brought Brady on to put MORE high balls in. ( for the Palace centre halfs to easily clear )cricketfieldclarets wrote:2 nil down

Not sure what our other options are.

Re: Lack of options
We’ve made half time substitutions 2 games running now and they’ve had no impact on the the outcome of the game.warksclaret wrote:Making subs late is becoming a habit-whats wrong with half time or just after if someone is having a quiet game
It’s not the lack of changes in players that’s the problem it’s the lack of change in formation/tactics

Re: Lack of options
Crouch's days of causing havoc are from a time in the past. He's no more than novelty value, the sort sometimes seen in charity games. A very poor acquisition. Vydra must have been disappointed for much of this season but to see Crouch getting on ahead/instead of him must make him despair.beddie wrote:We felt at 2.0 down Crouch should have been on, when he did we saw what havoc he can cause.

Re: Lack of options
TBF Crouch MIGHT be able to cause something to happen, even at 58 or whatever age he is, but he needs a half decent cross or two and today we couldn't get one in, despite having about 101 good opportunities.
