Where have you heard this one bartons baggage?
Had a slightly above average season in La Liga with Celta Vigo scoring 7 league goals in 35 games (not sure how many were starts), still only 24 years old. He signed a five year deal with them.

If it's Nixon his track record for Burnley seems to have become beyond patchy in the last 2 years.

Don't worry, jedi.
Nixon will be fully focused on matters down the road. His work will be easier now as he won't have to "guess" fees.

Re: John Guidetti
Interesting link. Accordingly to Soccerbase, he started only 12 league games for Celta Vigo last season, but made another 23 appearances from the bench, which suggests he couldn't quite break into their starting XI (although most of his starts seem to have come later in the season and like any player he could be forgiven for taking a while to adapt to a foreign league). But he did score 7 league goals despite that, and that in a team finished 6th in La Liga, so a good side. And he also scored 5 in 7 in the Copa Del Rey.
Would fit the bill as the sort of mobile target man we could do with adding this summer. I thought based on past discussions his wages were out of our league though.

Re: John Guidetti
I would say Guidetti would be quite a coup for a club like Burnley if it's a permanent deal, he plays most games for Sweden alongside Ibrahimovic, has top scored in the Eeredivisie (not hard, granted) and has just finished in 6th place in La Liga with a team that has been praised for it's fast, attacking football. Nolito who I assume he has been playing alongside is a fabulous player for Celta Vigo.Jambounchained wrote:I can't see this happening at all myself. Is he really what we need?
24 is a good age for the amount of top level experience he has both domestically and internationally - he would cost a wedge I imagine.

Re: John Guidetti
Well I sincerely hope it's not guidetti.
He was shocking on loan. Loads of people shouting "potential" but a bit like McCann in that it wasn't realised.
If we are lookin for a forward, he needs to be better than this fella.

Re: John Guidetti
Funnily enough i was reading up on him this morning following his comments concerning Zlatan.
Something of a cult hero in Sweden after captaining the Under 21's to the title last year and as someone said above he looked a fantastic player- certainly a lot better than when he played for us originally
He would be a fantastic signing. Cant see it happening in a million years though

Wasn't Guidetti carrying a few extra lbs when he played on loan for us which didn't help his mobility

Re: John Guidetti
I think anyone judging Guidetti by how he performed (or didn't) for us on loan in 2010-11 is wasting their time personally. He was a kid of 18, he's now a man of 24. He's effectively a completely different player.
Rodriguez didn't set the world alight in loans at Sterling or Barnsley. Any Southampton fan judging him by reference to that when he signed for them must have looked a bit daft 18 months later.
I'd be surprised if this was a goer, but if he is a target, I like the idea.

Absolutely not - the opposite, very mobile and lightening quick.mkmel wrote:Wasn't Guidetti carrying a few extra lbs when he played on loan for us which didn't help his mobility
I'm pleased to see he's been able to play again in the last two years when it looked very likely that his illness had ended his career

Re: John Guidetti
His goals from this season can be found on youtube (I'd post it but the music content is questionable). Nice variety to them; he hits the ball well and has very good movement in the channels and within the box. The one against Athletico stands out - it's an absolute peach from outside of the box.
I'd be very happy if he was wearing claret and blue next season!

I could be totally wrong, he might add something, I don't know. None of us really do.
He just doesn't seem to have 'pulled up many trees' wherever he's been (Feyenoord aside).
I would've just preferred someone in the ilk of Blake myself.

Re: John Guidetti
He did indeed Bones, won it himself too.
If we are in the market for a mobile, physical and technically proficient centre forward (perhaps as an upgrade on Sam) then signing Guidetti could represent a bit of a coup.

Re: John Guidetti
It as during his time at Feyenoord when the illness hit him and his loan was cut short. He played his last game for Feyenoord in April 2012 and didn't start another game until he'd joined Celtic in August 2014.Jambounchained wrote:I could be totally wrong, he might add something, I don't know. Re: John Guidetti
For the money he would cost I would much prefer Dwight Gayle.
Similar players and would probably be a similar price although I would suggest Gayle has more pace.
Although he hasn't set the Premier League alight (mainly due to lack of opportunity) he would certainly, IMO be a more viable option.

That's absolutely crazy. Fair play to him for coming back.
How much of a transfer fee would we be looking at? Surely he wouldn't come cheap.

i don't remember him being that quick either. he was technically good though and his movement was strong; he found space really well as i remember.
he was dubbed the swedish wayne rooney in his younger days as he had a similar body shape.

I wasn't impressed when I saw him on loan.
That was getting on for six years ago though. If Dyche thinks he's worth a punt that's good enough for me.

I can't remember whether he was fat or lean, fast or slow when he played for us - I remember him being a kid who had a stocky frame but was still obviously filling into it and like Quoon I remember his movement being smart.
A quick watch of that Youtube video though suggests that whatever he once was, he's now a solidly built forward who looks more imposing than the 6"1 he's given as (so ideal for a target man) who can certainly shift when he's moving. Only highlights, but physically, he's very impressive in the reel.

True, i hope there is some truth in the Guidetti thing though,he looks something like a player and with the input of Dyche, well who knows.
