Last time this happened was Charlie Austin six years ago, and he missed the final few games of the season.Tall Paul wrote:In before this is used as a reason to criticise the signing of Crouch.

Does this me we have a fully fit squad or that there are no other new injuries?Other than that, manager Sean Dyche has reported there are no further injuries to the squad ahead of Saturday’s game.

He'll be covering the hospital radio show
Joking aside, my wife suffered a burst appendix a few years ago and it took her months to recover. Fortunately I took her to hospital when she didn't want to go and it burst when she was at A&E.

Crouch, Defour, Lennon.
Just 20 starts between them this season.
That's a lot of dosh gone on not very much.

Wow, that's unlucky for us... AGAIN.
But suppose it's the risk you take with older players.
Luckily we are all but safe, so hopefully won't impact us more than the few quid in wages.
Our recent transfer windows look more and more disastrous as the weeks go by.

Add Walter's and Wells to that too.alf_resco wrote:Crouch, Defour, Lennon.

You could say Brady, Ward and Hart, however injuries while here after decent service is tough luck. The Hart one was an expensive mistake with hindsight.
There's no doubt in my mind we will think twice about the next time players looking for 1 last pay day become available.
A massive lesson hopefully learnt, without being major costly regards to relegating us.
Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
I don't suppose Vokes would have started any more if we'd kept him. (Especially since he was injured too.)alf_resco wrote:Crouch, Defour, Lennon.

No doubt the happy clappers will still insist it was a good signing.

I dread to think where we would be without the emergence of Mcneil this season.

I am amazed that there is a shortage of trained doctors and nurses in the NHS, most of those with the necessary qualifications seem to be posting on here.

I don't know about Appendix's (appendi?)... but I'm told they can burst at any time - I don't think it's an age thing.

Happened to Charlie Austin. He played in our game at Blackpool on the Saturday but by the time we went to Leeds in midweek he'd been ruled out for the season having been rushed into hospital. And it is very definitely not an age thing.claptrappers_union wrote:I don't know about Appendix's (appendi?)... but I'm told they can burst at any time - I don't think it's an age thing.

Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
In hindsight ( as stated ) he was an extremely costly ( financially ) mistake. His wages and fee could have been better used elsewhere.Grumps wrote:Hart was not a mistake...
Also factor in our poor form and squad moral etc.
It's no coincidence form and moral picked up on Tom's return, and he's not even the best GK at the club...
Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
Shocking ; taking up a hospital bed that someone could have used. Still I suppose they couldn't just let his legs dangle over the end of the bed he was in.
Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
Who would have played early season when all our goalkeepers were injured.. Hart also was man of the match on here several times... Maybe you forgot about that as it doesn't suit your beliefsMACCA wrote:In hindsight ( as stated ) he was an extremely costly ( financially ) mistake. I can't recall all our goalkeepers being injured when Hart signed to be honest.Grumps wrote:Who would have played early season when all our goalkeepers were injured.. Hart also was man of the match on here several times... Maybe you forgot about that as it doesn't suit your beliefs
Doesn't suit my beliefs? Do you mean opinion?
I just think Joe Hart was an expensive mistake for what he has done whilst here.
Even if all our keepers were injured ( I don't think they were ) there were other options out there than Hart, who lets be hones has been on a downwards spiral for a number of years now.
I agree he go a lot of man of the match awards, but lets be honest, he was the busiest goalkeeper in the league, he was bound to make some saves, it isn't to say another goalkeeper couldn't have done what he has.
Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
Pretty sure Heaton did an interview not long after coming back into the team saying he was fit at the start of the season.Grumps wrote:Who would have played early season when all our goalkeepers were injured.. Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
Will be a fitting end to a great career if he is fit to play on the last day against Arsenal and we are already safe. It was a low risk signing for us and hasn't worked out but we should give him a rousing send off all the same.

He picked up a calf strain prior to the Aberdeen away game which is why Pope played & did his shoulder.boatshed bill wrote:Didn't he pick up a muscle injury in one of our early games?

Crouch out may mean Lowton or Gibson may be given a subs appearance up front.
It certainly won't be Vydra !

So basically when we signed Hart our first and second choice 'keepers were very likely out injured.wilks_bfc wrote:He picked up a calf strain prior to the Aberdeen away game which is why Pope played & did his shoulder.
If I remember this correctly, Lindegaard also picked up a minor injury about the same time.

That's correct. The mistake we made was not playing a youth team keeper in the micky mouse league. Could have saved millions to spend on midfieldboatshed bill wrote:So basically when we signed Hart our first and second choice 'keepers were very likely out injured.

So you would be happy to start a Premier League season with only 1 fit keeper, who was returning from a long term, serious injury. Amazing that you havn't got a job as manager in the Premier League really.Conroy92 wrote:Pretty sure Heaton did an interview not long after coming back into the team saying he was fit at the start of the season.

Re: ARTICLE: Appendix operation forces Crouch out
I’ve had it and doubt he will play again too. I wonder how much we have paid on wages for appearance minutes from Walters, Crouch and Defour. Hindsight is easy but ages and injury record are known in advance. Before someone rolls out the line that Walters was never injured at Stoke the probability increases.
