What position would you really like to see us finish?
I think 14th is still achievable and that would be a respectable result give the difficult season we have had. Please don't give me the "If we finish 17th that will be fine with me" line (we all agree on that anyway).
Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
Champions, of course. Though it probably won't be this year.
Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
12th is a realistic position

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
There is a scenario where we could finish 7th again - tough as OP suggested 17th will do - anything higher than 15 means we have had a decent run in and good spirit/form to take into next season

Position makes pounds. So as high as possible please.
It is also beneficial in attracting sponsorship deals.

17th by goal difference, in the hope it'll give the board a jolt.

If I could take it now it would be 16th (or higher) with Cardiff surviving and Brighton going down.

8th - which,if I read the magic number thread correctly, is the best we could finish. But, realistically, I expect us to finish 15th or 16th with the hope of something like 12th.

17th -Staying up on goal difference at Brighton's expense, with an injury time off-side goal against Arsenal, which also deprives them of Champs League.

Well it might be for you.
I'd much prefer an excellent set of accounts to look at and big profits for the year, whatever our league position. That has to be the first priority for me.
Now that's secured, the rest is irrelevant.

Strange question TBH.
Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
Above Crystal Palace. I'd be happy enough with 17th on that basis.

a month back I had the firm expectation that Burnley would be among the 10 best .some defeats sustained could have been avoided .Now I would say 10th to 12th .I would be satisfied .

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
Doesn't matter this season as long as we stay up. Next season I'd say mid table and have a go at the Cups is a realistic ambition provided we strengthen.

The first priority has been achieved, the rest doesn't really matter.
Season tickets also frozen again, a great time to be a claret.
If Mike Garlick is happy, we should all be happy. He is Mr Burnley and doing the best for Burnley football club.

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
I'll be happy just seeing where we land, after our 6 wins.
Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
Just grateful we still have a club to support. Look at the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Birmingham, Stoke Leeds and many many more who failed to live within their means.summitclaret wrote:wow. You must be the original happy clapper.
It can all go wrong very, very quickly once you get a taste of the big time, I'm just glad Mike and his team make sure the balance sheets are correct and we are making money year on year in case the rainy days come, even if that means everything else plays 2nd fiddle.
We are only here to make up the numbers and milk it for as long as possible, and with Mike steering the ship it means we will always play it the right way. Profit before pride.

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
This season is irrelevant. We will stay up I think. 17th is fine. It’s all about next season. Dyche has strained our enjoyment this year, but I now have a funny feeling we’re set for another monster next season. He seems to push us into these cycles. Top 6 then.

you seem to be happy to go down as long as we have plenty of money. Why would anyone want that when we could have stayed up if we had brought in another centre midfielder for twice what we have paid in tax?MACCA wrote:Eh?

Anywhere above 18th.
I want us to reach 10 years finishing above them down the road. Another year in the prem will guarantee us 8.

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
But what happens when we stay up, AND make 36m, AND get rid of all the dead wood in the summer, AND then rebuild with 2 or 3 first team players?summitclaret wrote:you seem to be happy to go down as long as we have plenty of money. People think by buying players and spending money it means we will stay up. Look at our last dozen purchases, they can barely get a kick and have cost an absolute fortune in Burnley terms.
You've got to remember we have 200k a week in wages being sucked from us by Walters, Wells, Defour, Lennon, Ward and now Crouch ( to a lesser extent ) who haven't started a dozen games between them this season.
Add that to Vydra, Gibson, Brady, Hart and Pope we have some serious amounts of cash going out to players who are not contributing for 1 reason or another.
That's forgetting the 50m in transfer fees those players commanded when brought here.
You cannot keep spending money for the sake of it if the player isn't going to improve the first 11 and/or have a sell on value. If anything this last few seasons has taught us, it's do not ever panic buy for the sake of it, as they'll sit there either happily picking up wages for very little, or be content on the physio table months on end.

Re: What position would you really like to see us finish?
Can’t see this obsession with a cup run. At this stage of the season I’d rather be a Burnley fan looking at the league table than a Brighton fan looking at the league table and with a FA Cup semi-final to come. I have no fear of relegation. Brighton might have more points than Cardiff but their fans must be getting a little nervous.

Summit, we will still be in the Premier League next season, having spent cautiously and carefully whilst Fulham who did what you suggested Burnley should do (ie spend) will be playing in the Championship and probably less we’ll off financially than when they won promotion 12 months ago.

Brighton, who are in a better position than us in the league with a better run in and an FA Cup SEMI FINAL to come is a worse position to be in than us?

I'd like to see us at least 4 points better off than the 18th placed team, before we play Arsenal.

I would like to finish as high as possible, but those who think that 14th or even 12th is achievable, just look at the last 4 games
