Heaton 6
Lowton 6
Tarks 8
Mee 7
Taylor 8
Hendrick 7
Westwood 5 You cant miss chances like the 2 he had -2 for the misses
Cork 6 Poor early on but got stronger
McNeil 9 MOM again. Goals and assists win matches and keep you in the PL . Class act this boy
Barnes 7
Wood 8 Did what he is paid to do.

Result not performance is all that counts. Sadly we did Brighton a massive favour in the process.

Bitty at times. But the result was important and, as a team we stood up to them.
Mathematically we might not be safe, but the gaps too big for Cardiff.

Heaton 7 - Did he have a genuine save to make - good hands for crosses and pop shots
Lowton 7 - Good to see him back and playing well
Tarkowski 7 - Lost head a little in first half but more assured 2nd half
Mee 7 - Solid but had a very nervous 10 mins at start of 2nd half
Taylor 8 - links well with McNeil left side sorted
Hendrick 7 - Can tell not in favourite position but adds defensive stability and cover in midfield for cork and westy.
Cork 7 - controlled game well but seems to have lost a bit of sharpness sadly
Westwood 8 - another great performance getting better and better
McNeil 9 - MOM - WOW getting better and better and a joy to watch.
Wood 9 - right place right time just knows how to score goals should have had hat trick which would have give him a 10 and MOM
Barnes 7 - Linking up with wood well holding up ball well just not getting into goalscoring areas enough for me.

Kin hell. Can’t believe the low scores for Westwood. The bloke ran the show. He was absolutely everywhere. I know he missed those chances but surely credit for finding that pocket of space, twice.

Some people will mark him down because of his attempts at the two clear cut chances. Rightly so in my view.

Heaton. 7. Really had very little to do and did it well
Lowton. 6. Poor going forward and Cardiff opened us up down his side several times
Tarks. 6. Some classy and some clumsy play
Mee. 7. Very strong in the air, couldn't see the penalty situations
Taylor. 8. Classy defensive play and a real threat going forward
Hendrick. 7. Solid but I think he could get closer to players when covering.
Westwood. 7. Definitely should have scored at least one
Cork. After that terrible opening to the second half he was instrumental in us getting a foothold
McNeil. 8.mom. Scares players when he runs at them and moves so well off the ball.
Wood. 8. Good all round game today.
Barnes. 7. Barnes

Overall, after a few twists and turns, a deserved victory which has all but secured this club a fourth successive season in the Premier League. Make no mistake, this is a great day.

Heaton - 8 - Nothing much to do, but did supremely well a couple of time to scramble away short back passes/headers, and his calmness in some of the more chaotic moments like the penalty helped us keep our heads.

Lowton - 7 - He's got more quality going forwards than he showed today, but did a sterling shift defensively.

Taylor - 8 - Lively and determined going forwards, and hugely committed and diligent defensively.

Tarkowski - 8 - Responded to a slightly shaky first half with a superb second half display.

Mee - 7 - We'll all need to see the penalty stuff again, but apart from that he was generally solid as we restricted Cardiff to relatively little.

Cork - 7 - His tendency to get caught in possession was on show again, but in fairness he did pretty solid job in front of the back four.

Westwood - 7 - Another lively, tenacious game. Had two excellent chances to score, although neither were bankers and the second in particular was more a good save than a bad miss. Perhaps guilty of trying too hard to bend his set plays into the back post on occasions.

Hendrick - 7 - Nothing flashy, but kept the ball well, showed some good driving runs and did a sterling job defensively, not least in stepping inside to allow Westwood in particular to push forwards.

McNeil - 8 - In and out of the game, particularly in the second half as we got pushed deep, but two more assists, the second with a little bit of magic to find and exploit the space.

Barnes - 6 - A determined, bustling performance but Cardiff dealt with him fairly well.

Wood - 8 - Two goals, and probably could have had at least one and possibly two more. Ran the channels well and gave us a decent platform.

39 points, and 27 of them in the second half of the season - which makes this half season pretty remarkable and puts in perspective the calls for wholesale changes in personnel this summer. This was a game that was never wholly comfortable until we went 2-0 up, but in truth the game should have been safe by half time and even in the second half we generally kept Cardiff at arms length with relative ease. Had they got the penalty (not seen back, but seemed like a hell of a bold call by the linesman in the first place) or had Hoillett taken his big chance, then things might have been different, but as it was once we'd weathered Cardiff's early storm in the second half we were never in too much trouble.

Huge credit to everyone on the playing side of the club for this turnaround. To be safe - for the third season in a row - with games to spare is no mean achievement, even if it's not mathematically certain yet.

We were poor first half, but clearly better than them. Easy to see why they've struggled.
We were awful second half, until we finally kept the ball on the deck and played football, instead of hoof ball. How many times does this have to happen, before the players realise this and stop wellying the ball anywhere.

When was the last time we won 3 games in a row by 2 goals or more? In the top flight it has to be a hell of a long time ago. Over to you.

A very solid performance. McNeil edged mom for me. 2assists. He had a shot in the first half off target but the thing that stunned me was how little backlift he needed for ok power. That will bag him some goals in the future. Very much a 1st team regular now.

He really was shocking in that first half.

I would have been close to subbing him.

Heaton 7 - good communication with his defence and safe hands
Lowton 7 - gets up and down better than Bardsley and had some tenacious moments too
Taylor 9 - some tremendous defending and excellent wingback play from our most improved player in the last 15 games
Tarkowski 6 - punished for a few fouls
Mee 8 - muzzled their attack, another who has improved massively from his first half of the season showing
Hendrick 6 - offered little when in possession and it felt like real negativity from Dyche to leave him on to see out the win second half
McNeil 8 - looked a bit overawed by the occasion but for the second goal was too good for them to handle (though they were looking a beaten side by then)
Cork 6 - solid and unspectacular
Westwood 7 - excellent forward bursts but terrible finishing
Wood 8 - fantastic at getting chances against what is in truth a Championship defence, scored two but was wasteful and it could have cost us
Barnes 7 - tried to wind them up with mixed success

Today was probably more about why Cardiff are not good enough to survive rather than being about us. We did well, and showed flashes of confident play that we have only seen a few times this season. Our defence was generally solid apart from the Hoilett bad miss (reminiscent of the Palace goal just after half time so better players would punish us).

The improved defence is important because this may go unnoticed but we have scored more goals than we did last season and we have also scored more than Wolves have this season.

Talking of Wolves, I reckon if we had played McNeil in October onwards, we would have unlocked stubborn defences at home (Huddersfield, Newcastle etc) and we would now be on the coat tails of 7th, again, despite our ropey defending. But, not to worry, one of those things.

6 is average, and I don't see any player rated 5 or lower (although I skimmed through, so may have missed the odd one).

Courtesy of the beeb.

The Clarets have won three consecutive top-flight games by a margin of two goals for the first time since October 1968.

Burnley have scored in 12 consecutive home league games for the first time since November 2013 (12 in total in that run).

The latter stat surprised me,shows we are improving our attacking.

Heaton 6 nothing to do
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 8
Hendrick 6
Cork 6
Westwood 6
McNeil 8 mom
Barnes 6
Wood 8

Great Result and Great Atmosphere. Without Europe and a and a couple of quality upgrades to the starting eleven (Cork and Hendrick positions ?) and we could really do well next season.

Can't resist a challenge. Happy to be corrected on this but almost 51 years appears to be the answer.

October 1968 we actually won four on the bounce by two goals or more in the top flight. We've come close on the odd occasion, particularly in Nov/Dec 1974 but October 1968 seems to be last time we achieved the current feat of three games consecutively winning by two goals or more.
