Supporter Banned
"Burnley Football Club has today taken action against a supporter following a number of offensive social media posts, made following Saturday’s Premier league game v Cardiff City.
The club, which has a strict zero tolerance policy to any racial, or discriminatory behaviour, strongly condemns the posts.
We are grateful to supporters for bringing them to the club’s attention and, following a meeting with club officials this morning, the person responsible has been banned with immediate effect from Turf Moor, pending the conclusion of a Police investigation.
Burnley Football Club also continues to liaise with Lancashire Constabulary regarding a post-match incident outside Turf Moor on Saturday, involving both Burnley and Cardiff City supporters."

He’ll probably need to find new location for his company as well considering it’s based at the business hub at TM

I think the offending tweets have been removed but I think I know the sort of things it said. Utterly despicable that anyone associated with our club could be like that.dales_claret wrote:Easy to find the culprit on Twitter..pretty vile stuff about Sala
He has issued an apology on Twitter from what I can see. I am surprised as to where his business (linked on his Twitter profile) is located, I am not going to say on here - you can all easily find it as I did.

Don't understand why the club haven't named the perpetrator. Not everyone will be able to identify him unless his name is made known, but hopefully those who know his identity will spread the word and boycott his business.
I drove past one of his adverts just a few minutes ago and just about resisted the urge to deface it.
What a vile person he must be to post such stuff. V pleased that the club have taken such swift and decisive action. he's a stain on the club.

I'm guessing the "pending further police investigation" is the thing holding that back....nil_desperandum wrote:Don't understand why the club haven't named the perpetrator. Plenty of thick people about who think you can post whatever you want on the internet with no comeback.
Hopefully a few will learn off the back of this.

The power of social media, amazing.
Chap behaves like a complete arse, no doubt full of drink and he is now banned from the Turf, fighting to save the reputation of his business and facing a criminal investigation.
Think before you tweet people!

I haven’t seen the social media shenanigans. Far too anti social for me.
With regards to the club liaising with the police, I hope that has something to do with only paying a percentage of the match day policing fee.

Police have clicked on tho now haven’t they? Dedicated officers scouring the internet for people being rude to others, then paying them a visit to ask them to behave. Now THATS police work. Meanwhile, somewhere on the streets of London, someone is bleeding to death from a stab wound...

Re: Supporter Banned
Not very tactful with his tweets, but I think it was more of a wind up/stupid comment because of the link to the song, rather than racist behaviour. People only think its racist when it involves darker skinned people. (thinking it can't be racist to Scottish or Welsh people)
Not defending the guy, don't know him or have even heard of him before today but I have heard a lot worse on the Turf being sung by thousands regarding Jack Walker.
Dread to think how many people would be banned if they could historically go back to the 1980's some of the songs and chants were vile.

Re: Supporter Banned
People need to realise that when they post on social media - they are actually publishing their comments. Totally difference to having a conversation down the pub, or in your own home, that some might find abhorrent, racist or whatever.

The police should stop investigating all crimes other than knife crimes in London until all stabbings stop happening.bobinho wrote:To be fair, people have been posting what they want on the internet since it was invented. Only recently have people had to answer.... and then only certain people.
