Ground Development BL Stand

Post by Burnleyareback2 » Sat Apr 13, 2019 11:26 pm

A lot of new signage inside the BL concourse today.

Whilst it’s nice to see the club trying i didn’t really get the point.

Inside the concourse above the turnstiles- welcome to Turf mood sign all lit up. Trouble is you only see it on the way out.

Then lots of lit up signs as you walk down the stand. When the club was founded, a lot of past chairman, a list of all the crests we have had. All the things most fans would already know.

Not a complaint or a moan, I just don’t get it.

Looks like they’ve added a good number of projectors too - assume they’ll be either removing the TVs or adding extra screens, which isn’t a bad thing. Where they are now just encourages people to stand in the walkways.

They looked quite good.

I know it isn’t the Club’s fault, as the funding is there for them to apply, but doesn’t it seem a little unfair that an organisation posting the profit it did can apply for grants, said grants could but used for other purposes in grassroots?

I want to be clear it isn’t a criticism of the club, more the grant system.

It's a disgrace that our club is providing a place of honour to this traitorous gobshyte. I don't usually encourage vandalism but would happily pay for a big horse's head sticker to cover it up.

At the very least I expect to see a big pile of empty pie trays left in tribute at his feet, at each game.

Had he not taken charge, I very much doubt we'd be in the Premier League this season. Character wise he's the pits - manager wise, he's one of the best we've had.

The 1st Paragraph I can empathise with Frank but not the 2nd.
Yes that season he took us up set this club on its current path, settling the club financially..... but he isn't one of the best at all.... just one lucky 'SOB' .....

Manager wise he was lucky with us that season (as has been proved by his disastrous tenures elsewhere since)

His Irn Bru and Doughnut routine is still there.... (how the hell can you train Footballers in this day and age on Sugaryshite defies logic)

He got us playing some of the best football I've seen in 30 years. He made his own luck by playing attacking football. Just my opinion and like I say - had we not got promoted, I don't think we'd be where we are now.

How many opened this thread and thought “ at last” the non league level BL stand will be demolished/ redeveloped etc only to find its some guffery about some tarted up tour pics of Owen Coyle when the far more pressing matter of commode seats and a formaldehyde vending machines still remain unaddressed

Any chance of some proper redevelopment of the Bob Lord or Cricket Field now we’re safe?

I always thought this might be the summer (if we stayed up) that we may announce something. Certainly Garlick hinted at there being ‘something’ possibly/maybe in the pipeline with the ground on that video a couple months ago (can’t remember if it was an episode of Turf More or some such).

With all we have in the dry powder store we can only be a few years off making the cricket club an offer they can’t refuse. We need to be increasing fanbase to every home match a sellout and people complaining they can’t get on to justify it though.

Garlick came out and stated that we would re address the situation in five years time a few seasons back since then the new disabled facilities have been on going but it was a main factor we have to comply by with EPL rules.
I think Barnfields construction have been doing on going work without gaps ever since the training ground was constructed barring hold ups in the unforeseen excavation work.
What i would like to happen after the summers dealing and infrastructure of
re gauging of the squad is a future development plan to one of the stands
To much new work as been done to the Bob Lord for a re over haul but what might be possible is an up and over construction
But again without surveillance and incite planning procedure and many many other aspects it is hard to say whether if at all without total demolishment this would be feasible.
There is know way after recent works to that stand would be even considered of the latter
Where would the Prawn sandwich brigade sit for starters and it would also be a dressing room issue if we did an over haul on the Cricket field Stand with new dressing rooms fitted out last Summer all though it would be certainly a less issue to give that stand a wide birth first or at some stage.
But the organising to do such a project would take at least a year in planing and then the submitting it all being passed it would after be now or at least something coming out of the club in the summer saying they are preparing plans to redevelop to come into line with what Garlick addressed back then.
but this as to be high on the agenda sooner or later you would think
But if we get relegated its as you were make hay while the sun shines or its the two seventies stands for some years and generations to come forward thinking Burnley FC is the way to go and a tidy compact ground of 25,000 to take us into the future would be fitting UTC

Very appropriate I reckon, the early leaving turnstile has never been more popular than during Cotterill’s long winless run.

One poster of an ex manager as sent this thread all over the shop.
But for the record I was at MK Dons the cup match that was to be his last game everybody there and not just there all our supporters never wanted Coyle to go but its how he left with lie after deceit. WE DIDN'T WANT HIM TO LEAVE WHY
Take away all the shenanigans that lying toerag did and his merry band of men to boot.
What he did was excellent with an ordinary team that season with the cup runs and the excitement levels the football that happened after final at Wembley was snatched away from us in that eventful Semi final
His motivation was second to none now before anyone dare condemn what is proof in the pudding that he moved a stagnant club forward and how anyone can say it was luck is beyond me we were lucky most the season then as that's what it takes to get promoted and he carried it on two half a season into our maiden season in the top flight.
Cant stand how he deceived the Club but what he did was bring a bit of stability back and set us up on this journey.
After admit wouldn't give him the stream of my waste but what he gave me when the going was good was something i could only dream about and this is part of the dream still so in that respect he was good for our football club and that i will put out there

25k or even 27k should be the goal. Spurs £1B spend puts things into perspective. You can’t stand still in football.

It is an interesting debate about whether we would be where we are without him. I think we would. All the money from that brief sojourn into the premier league was gone when SD took over. Most of our signings were free transfers and there had been no money spent on infrastructure despite the millions we earned. Don't get me wrong, OC brought some amazing memories, we were exciting to watch and the team never lacked motivation but we were a mid table championship club before OC arrived and we were a mid table championship club when SD took over.

On topic, I'm glad the club are at least making the effort to spruce up areas of the ground. Long term we will be looking to upgrade the stadium at some point but I suspect it will be the cf stand before the bl. Might as well make the bl look nice in the meantime.

The sticking point is that the facilities in the concourses need to be improved as the stand is only designed for its original capacity. It’s not as simple has chucking in new seats

Evolution not Revolution is the Burnley way. I understand the club are aiming for tepid water next season, warm the season after, and hot by 21/22. All dependent on remaining in the Premier League obviously.

It’s a well known medical fact that Sitting on plastic seats for long periods, makes your bum sweat. As for replacement seats in both stands, they need to take them back to the bare plywood and use a good quality yacht varnish.

Of they’re going to keep the Cricket Field as it is for 5+ years then ideally they need to put the same seats in as Spurs have, incorporating barriers.

The signs are a good idea. Old people forget easily, so at least this will jog the memories of 90% of the punters in the Bob Lord.

I've heard we have put a lottery request in for that.

If unsuccessful with that I think we will have to wait for the Premier League to come up with a 'hot water in toilets' rule before anything gets done.

The young inspector from europa league didn't like the wooden seats, didn't they have to come out of the CFS if we progressed to the group stage

Sorting the cricket field concourse would be easy enough. Access to it needs to be sorted as well. So there needs to be an exit at the side above the players tunnel. The current one way in and out causes much of the problem. Then they need to extend the covered area between the Longside and CFS and move the turnstiles further out. We've plenty of room there to expand.

A more progressive approach would be to do what Liverpool did and build the new stand above and behind the existing one without actually having to close the CFS. Put in new seating but add a bigger concourse behind the current structure at both ground level and higher up. So you incorporate the current stand into the new one. No impact on the changing rooms either that way. We'd have to come to an agreement with the Cricket club on that one obviously, but that would seem to be the next area to go to if we need to expand.

As for the BL, well I've seen plenty of stadiums now with large overhangs over roadways, The Gabba in Brisbane for example. That really might be the only thing to do in this case as I can't see us knocking down any part of that in the near future because of the impact on matchday revenues. So again, build that second tier whilst the old stand stays open.

I reckon we'll do a version of the first paragraph. With some nice stickers.

There is a fair chunk between the Bob Lord stand and the road, tbf, especially so if you overhang the pavement

waste of money - the seats aren't used at all in there now - safe standing, that would be better with the rail seats.
