Post by Steve1956 » Wed Apr 17, 2019 6:14 pm

Has anyone claimed being delayed by train apparently if it's over 30 mins its 50% of your ticket price and 100% if over an hour....if so how long does it take to be paid out, claimed on Saturday and got confirmation by email, havnt heard a jot since

I had a delay/repay claim with South Western Railway that I submitted 6 weeks ago and have received neither an acknowledgement nor the required refund. Unfortuntately, because I do not have a scanner I had to send the claim by post. I have given up on it now and just written the amount off. The original tickets have to be submitted with the claim and have probably been binned.

Perhaps I should write a letter of complaint to Chris Grayling.

It's easier to get blood out of a stone then a railway ticket refund..

Virgin
50% for 1/2 hour delay

Delays of over 60 minutes = 100% of the cost of a single ticket or 100% of the cost of the relevant portion of a return ticket

I know its different but Virgin Airways paid out within 10 days of Claim being verified and details forwarded....

If you have booked your train tickets via Virgin Trains own website then any refund due is paid automatically by Virgin without needing to actually claim.

Had a Transpennine train from Liverpool to Manchester Victoria cancelled about 3 weeks ago.

Went on the website, uploaded pic of ticket, and got confirmation email all during the journey back on next train.

Refund paid into account 10 days later.

Also depends on the reason for delay. I had a delay of just over 1 hour on a GWR train from Paddington to Exeter. The delay was caused by someone being hit by a train at Newbury, so the TOC are not liable for this.

Had Virgin pay out relatively quickly. The key point being this thread is all about Virgin trains, not all the other companies!!!!
