Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
I know some have a bit of a soft spot for Liverpool and for some it's related to their 70's and 80's heyday, while others seemed to laud their performances under Benitez and then latterly with Rodgers at the helm. Others appear to believe that Klopp is a jovial rogue bringing some much needed pantomime and challenge to what might otherwise be a rather dull league.
Frankly, I cannot stand them.
Some of this might be related to where I work and the smugness of certain individuals in the office of late - furthered by some of these very same individuals laughing at our own supposed plight and our attempts to "injure their players" at the Turf earlier in the season.
All this got me to thinking that I would be quite happy for us to roll over like a kitten on Sunday, have City maintain their lead at the top, and be crowned Champions on Sunday, 12 May.
Which way is everyone else swaying? City to go back-to-back on the Premier League, or Liverpool to finally succeed in their attempts for the trophy?

Re: Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
I don't care as long as we don't roll over for anyone. I do have the affection you mention for Liverpool but neither do I dislike City, so who wins the title is okay by me. I don't see how anyone would want their team to lose just to stop an unrelated club winning something. Don't forget the way the PL works, the higher we finish the more we get paid, and that is more important to me than which of the fat cats wins the league.

I assume you are fishing. I would prefer City to win the league tbh but I'm a Burnley fan and I can't think of anything better than our writing our name in this season's history by somehow derailing their title chances. It would make for a truly epic afternoon at the Turf and Proudsville would hardly do justice to it. No Burnley fan would prefer your option.

My only hope is that MK Dons become triple PL Champions by the end of the next decade, anything else is of no concern. I want to see what a real plastic club looks like when they win.

only if they have another pair like Tripps and Mee and we get them on similar deals - and I loathe Liverpool
Too my knowledge Pep is the only foreign manager who has never complained about the way we play, he may not care for it personally but seems to have enjoyed the challenge of finding a way to overcome it and always accepts our right to do things differently and not roll over like a good puppy.

I've got an unhealthy desire to see Liverpool lose the title race. I hate the club with a passion.
But I keep looking at the table and thinking how much money we could gain from moving up the table.
I will just have to avoid the internet and keep my fingers in my ears until it passes if Liverpool do win it. About 15 years I think.

Re: Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
First and foremost I want Burnley to win because I support Burnley and love it when we beat anyone especially the big boys.
Secondly the arrogance that has grown amongst the City fans and the way they’ve forgotten where and what they have come from annoys me. Listening to them on the walk back to the train after last years cup defeat really annoyed me.
Thirdly the pain I endured watching them put 6 past us at the turf and the way Goater always bagged means I dislike them.
Fourthly whoever we were playing I love the thought of us deciding the title.
Don’t get me wrong there’s plenty to dislike by those odious scousers too, but we aren’t playing them so I’m not too bothered.

Never in a million years would i want any Burnley team to throw a game even if it meant Horse Fiddlers going down by Christ no.
Try beat everything in front of you, let them fight it out after us not on our terms.
Hope we beat them after the pasting they've handed us give us, a Boyd special anytime UTC
And for the record I think we can manage something more this time than any other

If we want respect from the world of football, despite our small budget, we have to earn it.
I want us to beat city, Everton and arsenal for our own self belief and worth. I want the season finishing on a high, we are Burnley and can take on and beat the big boys.

Re: Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
I hate the idea of Liverpool winning the league.
BUT if we beat City this weekend it will most certainly be the deciding factor. Especially as Liverpool have only lost one all season - against City.
Imagine the global exposure now and in the future we would get from playing such a part. Also imagine how the first time Liverpool ever win the league in the premier league era it was decided by Burnley. As much as I don't want Liverpool to win it, that would be incredible for Burnley to play such a huge role in deciding where the title finishes up.

I agree with that statement 100%. ‘Pool have been a top club for decades. Liverpool also have something Citeh are craving….. Champions League trophies…..5 of them to be exact.
Citeh were brought back from the also rans by ‘nodding donkeys’ pumping out $$$ to buy the best players on the planet, along with the best coaches oil could buy. I expect Burnley to give Citeh a game Sunday, we may lose, but you can bet your bottom $ we won’t roll over.

Re: Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
I very much doubt we will roll over like the proverbial kitten
on Sunday. At least I hope not.
And if play like we did against Chelsea (make the most of our few chances and defend
like hell) then we might just get a result although I do think City will score albeit they haven't been
banging them in as much over their last few games compared to earlier in the season.
I think they might be getting a little weary and be missing one or two key players but then have a
pool of quality players to come in and will know that a win at the Turf will keep them in front.
Both they and Liverpool would be worthy winners and there probably won't be more that a few points in it.
LIverpool have been amazing this season and, to my knowledge, have only lost one game in 35 which is some record.
City have lost 4 but won more games than Liverpool (29 from 35) which in itself is one hell of a return.
But it would one one hell of a scalp for us if we could get a result against them.
I'm hoping for a good game from us and pushing them all the way.

Re: Roll over like a kitten on Sunday?
I expect us to make every team work hard for any victories against us,the result and more importantly the performance at Stamford Bridge should give the lads belief we can gain something from the Man City game, our recent record since Pep's arrival there is actually pretty decent, admittedly we've also taken some doings, but so has most of the PL.
I'm ambivalent as to who wins the title, but would like a strong finish to our season, and as high a league placing as possible.

A lot of these Burnley fans who want City to win have more than likely supported United has kids, and now jumped on the Burnley band wagon.
Best word to describe them would be plastics, they will be off back to support United as fast as they arrived at the Turf, once we drop back to the championship.

Well firstly those two situations are completely different, particularly as Man City cover all running and maintenance costs at their ground when WHU do not. But I'd rather that either of those happened than what has happened around Anfield.Spijed wrote:The area around where West Ham play their football has been re-developed beyond all recognition too (Olympic Park & Stratford etc.), but it still doesn't make it right how both Man City & West Ham acquired their stadiums.
Secondly, Man City were in that ground before the current ownership, which I believe is what the post I quoted was referring to wrt to 'how they are run'

Hopefully we don't get a repeat of last season when as soon as 7th was secured we basically tossed it off for our last 2 games. As others have said getting a result on Sunday would be massive and make headlines all over the world.
