I've said it all along, the aimless hoofball of earlier in the season produced horrific performances and results - the minute we get the ball down and play we are a good side, we've seen it again today. Don't underestimate the fortune we've had that McNeil has come in and been immense, for a kid of his age and experience to be putting in the performances he has could not have been foreseen - head and shoulders above Brady

Think *fortune*is not really giving the scouting system, youth coaches, manager and player the credit they deserve.

"Sean Dyche is a winner"..always remember Dion Dublin saying that on Final Score a while back. Sean Dyche knows how to win when the chips are really down.
Fantastic today. Very, VERY happy tonight.

It matters not what you said all along we can only play to our strengths... if it means row z so be it. Whats comparing Brady to mcneil got to do with anything?

The same strengths we had today really mate.

Look, I LOVE Dyche, he's the man - bar none. But sometimes the tactics and the play have been lacking - especially earlier in the season. Even recently having played football on the deck and done well doing it, the next game we are giving it to James "do I remind you of Franz Beckenbauer when I do this?" Tarkowski to hoof it straight to their defenders. People question this, because they KNOW we are far better than that.

far more eloquently put than me but this is exactly what I've been talking about. We were bloody outstanding today, helped by Cork finding a bit of form so Westy isn't playing on his own. We can pass the ball really really well when we choose to.

Cork & Westwood struggle against the big, strong midfielders. Today Lerma & Gosling were neither and our guys dominated them.

24 points in 14 games since the halfway stage on the season. Only 4 teams in the prem have more points than that. More than Chelsea and Spurs

Can’t be that much wrong with the squad ... or the managers tactics

Amazing what a couple of wins can do to the memory.

What did the stats say before the Wolves game?

The squad is small, and lightweight. The tactics have been up and down. No-one is really seriously going to challenge that are they?

But it’s football. And more than this, it’s Premier League football. There is a huge element of chance. The players aren’t machines to be programmed, but people who are imperfect. If (and there are no reasons to disbelieve him) Dyche sets out to win every game, then he succeeds or fails based on a lot more than his tactics - which might or might not go his way on the pitch. He’s up against some of the best managers in the world, who themselves make mistakes. It’s just a lot more nuanced than Dyche’s tactics.

Yes Agreed but maybe the models changing....contracts aren't worth the paper written on tbf. The better we play ...the better players leave. Let's just go about our business quietly. I mean even Mersons raving about us now and we've only beat Bournemouth :D

  yeah I saw Merson saying we would give City a game - which we will at the Turf I think.

To be fair, United sold Beckham and Ronaldo and Liverpool sold Suarez and Coutinhio, when the bigger boys come a knocking there is nothing you can do - the longer length contracts just protect the clubs investment in that we can demand a higher fee - the hard part is then reinvesting it wisely !

Not quite sure how the critics know what Sean’s tactics in a game are, when the players don’t play very well. Seems they’re happy with the tactics when we play well. Could it just be that the tactics are roughly the same in each game, it’s just the quality of performance that is the variable.

Certainly Ashley Westwood’s standard play, the high chip down the channel on the right flank when facing square to the touch line happens in games where we play well and in games where we don’t play well. In the games where we play well it looks great. In other games it looks poor.

not really, there are games where we aimlessly launch it (the entire first half of the season), then McNeil comes into the team and we play more football. You'll find plenty of people say we haven't played well when we've won too

Great performance yesterday. We mixed play well, including a number of effective long balls. That’s always our game though, we mix it up. Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn’t, which is hardly surprising considering the level we are playing at. When it doesn’t come off, some people are extremely critical Dyche’s ‘hoofball’ tactics. They tend to see the game completely differently when we win though.

I'll hold my hands up and say I thought we were all but down after we lost to Leicester, however I never doubted that Sean Dyche should stay. He was my number one choice when he got the job and I will stand by him until he departs (however that comes about).

Sometimes the football isn't pretty but it is a results business and he gets it right more than he gets it wrong IMO. Yesterday I thought we were superb after going a goal down and looked dangerous pretty much every time we went forward playing some nice football down the left in particular.

Dyche, frankly, is an immense character. He is a full on character and the media loves him. He is tough, intelligent and as he will say still learning. Who could Burnley get to replaced him with who could meet the required the criterion?

Yes I was at pretty much every match, including the eleven match winless run from December to March when Wood was out and also Defour from January.
I missed the early season loss to West Brom though.

I don't know what you were watching last season, but a lot of it was backs to the wall 1-0 wins. Which haven't gone for us this season because the framework, shape etc wasn't there. And the admission of the manager saying that he wanted to try and get more expansive.

We don't play any different against anyone. Yes there are a few minor tactical tweaks here and there but it's still the same way of playing.

There's not a switch that we can just flick.

I was wrong to believe he wasn’t the man to keep us in the division, though I never believed there was anyone better to bring us back.

This second half of the season has been immense in all honesty. Hopefully, we have learnt from our shocker last summer. Time for a clear out.

Always been a Dyche fan but not blind to the fact that for the first half of the season he was struggling to find the best system and the best personnel to fit into it. Thank God he finally figured it out.
