Leeds - shocking

Post by FactualFrank » Sun Apr 28, 2019 1:35 pm

Their player got injured earlier and Villa put the ball out. Minutes later Villa player goes down and Leeds carry on.

Leeds have now carried on after a Villa injury and score.

Ref now sends Villa's player off and will miss a playoff game.

Unbelievable.

The worst part about the goal was the Leeds full back feigning to put the ball out before playing his man in.

Obviously why Dyche sent him on his way after the loan here a couple of seasons ago...

TBF, it was only their centre half who wasn't having it, the rest of the team took it in fair grace.

In the build-up, Kodjia is fouled and goes down, looking to be injured as Aston Villa stop in their tracks and ask for Leeds to put it out. Roberts slows the game down as if he is going to - but he doesn't.

Glich is fed down the left-hand side by Roberts and he looks and he gets into an almost empty box and curls home past Steer. The defenders are nowhere near by, they had hoped Leeds were going to stop.

After the whole aftermath of the goal is sorted out, Bielsa is telling his team to let Aston Villa go and score at the other end to make up for the fact his side did not stop when Kodjia was injured.

Jansson races Adomah down, trying to stop him, but he of course scores. Jansson's team-mates and manager are telling him off as he was told to let Aston Villa score

Bielsa insisted they allow a Villa goal. It was their cheating defender who almost spoilt it.

And Bamford?

Yep. That'll be oveturned https://streamable.com/bqz0i" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And hopefully Bamford gets some action taken against him. A ban of equal length to what his victim would have got would be nice.

As mentioned straight after the final whistle they said they think the red card will be rescinded. I'd be surprised it isn't.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this Leeds goal. They shouldn't have given the goal back.

IT is correct for once. Leeds fully entitled to carry on, for one it wasn’t a head injury and secondly I’m not even sure it was a foul. Villa switched off and completely to blame.

As for Bamford, get him banned. It was almost as bad a the Rivaldo one the diving ****.

Villa were entitled to carry on earlier in the game - they kicked the ball out. No way were Leeds right to carry on.

Villa didn’t have to play it out. Up to the ref these days- and rightly so. Half wits diving all over the place, then asking to put it out? Do me a favour. No, you’re letting your hatred of Leeds get in the way of facts Frank.

I don’t like teams kicking the ball into touch. The referee should be the only one who can stop the game and unless the injury seems serious or is to the head then there is no need for the game to stop.

It's all about morals and sportsmanship. Villa kicked the ball out when they were on the ball but put it out of play. The referee often doesn't blow the whistle, but one of the players puts it out so the player can receive treatment. Villa did that and expected that Leeds did the same in return. They didn't - twice. There was an earlier one moment in the game when Leeds once again refused to kick it out of play.

If Leeds really did "nothing wrong", then Bielsa wouldn't have done anything of the sort to ask his players to let Villa score. He did it because he knows his players should have kicked it out of play. The correct result in the end and hopefully the red card is rescinded.

A cracking playoff final beckons...

No, absolutely wrong in my opinion. The onus was moved to the referee to stop the game to stop this sort of thing happening. Leeds have no duty, either by the laws or morals of the game to put the ball out. I didn’t see the game (just the incident in question) but apparently it wasn’t the first time this particular Villa player had stayed down, only to skip away like nothing had happened after a bit of treatment. If this had happened at the Turf I certainly would have been urging our players to play on.

I agree.
Villa player took a dive whilst nearly fouling the Leeds player. All this bloody nonsense about kicking the ball out needs to be stopped and it should be up to the ref 100% whether to stop play. There’s just too much play acting and cheating.

My best mate (Leeds fan) doesn’t half slate Bamford! Appreciates that he has quality on occasion but consistently inconsistent and lacks any instinct where thought comes into it.
