Dwight McNeil
Honeymoon period over. Hes average at best. Hes far too lightweight he got out muscled by Bernado Silva whos about 4 foot. Hes slow for a winger and always looks knackered after 10 mins.
Hes got a decent delivery ill give him that but apart from that what else does he really offer ?

Re: Dwight McNeil
Obvious troll but a full preseason with the first team will do him a world of good.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Jim, give it a rest and go and bang your pretend daughter.
Ps yes he's been quiet in the last 2 games, but up against 2 very good defensive teams, and arguably the best RB in the league today.
He will be running out of steam too, as he's played a hell of a lot of football, for someone who isn't up to the task of 2 games a week in the premier league due to his inexperience.

What is it with these 'fishing' attempts. One attempt every few weeks/months, fine - we can see the funny side of it.
When it happens several times within a few hours, it's just annoying.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Guess someone wasn’t at Bournemouth where the right back didn’t know whether he was Arthur or Martha in the first half such that he was subbed by Eddie at half time.
If McNeil keeps improving he is going to be some player....
Loved it when he told Bernardo to xxxx off...very funny

Re: Dwight McNeil
Maybe not his best, but look he was up against. He defended well, and always looked for the positive forward move when he had the ball. Head and shoulders above the likes of Mane and that blond non entity on the same wing. Keep it up Dwight.LoveCurryPies wrote:OP is making my blood boil. Kids been superb since the New Year. He objectively wasn't great today and has things to work on.. Namely upper body strength and stamina.

Re: Dwight McNeil
This young lad has been sensational and played a huge part in the points tally since January. On Monday v Chelsea I thought he looked tired and maybe SD should have brought on JBG. It didn't matter as we got a hell of a result. Today he looked tired too but playing v one of the best defenses in Europe. I think we should give him a rest v Everton and bring his fresh legs on with 20 minutes to go. SD has managed him really well. He is only 19 and managed well will go on to be some player. To say the honeymoon is over is an insult to a great prospect

Was absolutely shattered today by about 70 minutes, the lad could barely move but we didn't have the options on the bench to replace him.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He's got plenty of upper body strength for a teenager, that's certainly not one of his weaknesses. He's also always going to be one of those who looks a bit knackered even when he isn't mind.Papabendi wrote:He objectively wasn't great today and has things to work on.. Big credit to Dwight that Pep made a particular effort to stop him today, they'd done their homework and shuffled across to get very tight. That said, these games where we've very little of the ball, have to keep a rigid shape, and are having to attack from deep don't really suit him at this stage in his career. It's much easier for him in games when we're playing higher up the pitch and he can drift around a bit more.
He might well be a little bit jaded now - mentally and physically, and if he is, then fair enough. He's had quite a four months.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Excellent player, but I agree he is very lightweight, and backs out of 50/50 challenges at times, but that side of his game should improve

Re: Dwight McNeil
He’s a kid playing in “the best league in the world”, in his debut season. When was the last time Burnley had someone come through the youth team who has played for us, at such a level, so regularly and to such effect?
He’s not even playing in his favoured position! Let the lad develop, have great games (he’s had plenty) and bad games (few and far between). We should be pleased that we have him and make the most of it whilst we do.
If the OP wasn’t fishing, dear oh dear!!

Re: Dwight McNeil
He wasn't great today, but let's be fair he's a young lad playing against the champions elect so it was never going to be easy. It seemed to me that he worked really, really hard defensively (not his strong point!) for 70 minutes and when the time came for us to try to take the game to City who were actually very nervous and jittery about their precious one goal lead by then, he just didn't have the legs or energy for it, which was such a shame tbh. But he's a very, very good player.

Guardiola was about as fulsome in praise of another Team’s player as I’ve ever heard him, when talking about Barnes in the post match interview, describing him as impossible to control. Hyperbole, I’m sure, but praise indeed.

Re: Dwight McNeil
How can he be expected to do much when the ball sails over his head with clearances most of the game?
When he got the ball to feet he had two on him straightaway so he was restricted to laying it off and keeping possession. But we expect magic now.
As for the poster saying he ducks out of 50/50 challenges, How many would you expect him to win against seasoned defenders?
Oh and the other thing of Dyche doesn't like his players tackling unless big favourite or desperate to stop a goal. He prefers blocking. So have a go at him if you don't like it.
