Random observations from today
Just a few things.
City coaches: I got stuck behind a few that exited the 65 at junction 10. A bit strange because they normally leave at 9 and I had noticed that the Police were waiting for them at 9. Obviously a breakdown in comms somewhere.
I note that there was an increased Police presence around the ground today when compared to the Cardiff match. A bit like bolting the stable door methinks.
Scoreboard awarded the goal to us: I had to laugh because the scoreboard had us 1-0 up for at least 5 minutes when they scored
City staff in the JHU Concourse after the match: This was bit weird because stewards were escorting two foreign speaking characters (One very loud female) wearing City clothing through the JHU concourse after the match. Bad planning IMHO.
Tesco was closed after the match! We were popping in for some stuff but it was closed. I noted that there was something going on in their car park after the Cardiff match so was it closed as a result of that or does it close early on a Sunday?
Did you see the number of photographers in front of the City dug out when they came out for the 1st half? There must have been at least a dozen Whilst in front of the Burnley dug out there were.....................................none

Re: Random observations from today
Not quite 5 mins. They scored in the 63rd minute and I took two pics in the 65th minute. At 64:35 it was still showing 1-0 to us but at 64:37 it had gone to 0-0. A couple of seconds later it was 0-1.CaptJohn wrote:Scoreboard awarded the goal to us: I had to laugh because the scoreboard had us 1-0 up for at least 5 minutes when they scored

The photographers were from Primarks Fashion dept. for the summer catalogue featuring Peps New Clobber. Nothing to do with Football.

I noticed how when City play “anti football” it’s game management and clever.
When we do it it’s the worst thing to ever happen.

They always have opposition coaches up in the press bit of the jhu, I assume they are stats men.

We need a better midfield.

I think this too, I reckon we should put bids in for Silva, Gundagon and maybe that Fernandinho chap who isn’t getting a game at minute.Blyclaret wrote:We need a better midfield.

Re: Random observations from today
We need some pace. None of our starting line-up has any.
Re: Random observations from today
City fans. Very quiet till they scored. I have heard Pep is a bit disappointed with them generally. Not much atmosphere at the Abu Dhabi Centre and often not full.

Agree with above comments, we need a new midfield, in spite of excellent efforts from Westwood and Cork, plus we need pace up front. Defence is fine.

No city players warmed up at half time.
There weren’t 100/1000’s of city fans in the Burnley end

We are at long last getting some grudging compliments from the media and this game was described by many as being the most difficult of City’s remaining games.

Re: Random observations from today
From yesterdays match programme. The last word was an article about Doug Collins. The caption under his photo says that it is of him in action at Wembley during the Charity shield win over City. The match was played at Maine Road. I should know because I was there

Vincent Kompany walked 10 yards to pat Dwight McNeil on the shoulder and ruffle his hair.
Brian Kidd walked off the pitch in deep conversation with Dwight McNeil and at one point had his arm around Dwight's shoulder.
Grooming him for the future?

Re: Random observations from today
Raheem has tipped me over the edge, he needs a whistle so he can take over from the Ref when the ref clearly gets it wrong. Failing that he will of course never get a yellow card for time wasting, blocking a free kick from being taken or indeed committing a challenge that results in a counter attack being stopped, telling the linesman how to do his job or indeed sulking. Raheem is the young player of the year and his gamesmanship should be applauded by any anti football fans out there, he is a player the young should aspire to be, just copy what he does and you my boy will be...................nurse...my tablets I am having a Raheem meltdown, other meltdowns are available!

Re: Random observations from today
Whenever the one of the big six play a long forward pass it's called a 'well placed, incisive pass' but when we do it it's the 'long ball game'. Not saying there is any biased you understand.bfccrazy wrote:I noticed how when City play “anti football” it’s game management and clever.

Incidentally I was laughing to myself last week after Chelsea and all their fans were calling us cheats for time wasting. Do they EVER watch their own team(s) with any sort of critical analysis or is it really just as blinkered as it seems - the top 6 clubs could give lessons in cheating but the media, in their case, 'respectfully' call it 'simulation'.

Re: Random observations from today
I got cornered by a bloke at the services on the way home yesterday, and in his finest West Midlands/Black Country accent asked "Owdera 'Villa gerron lad...?" seeing me in my Burnley shirt. I told him that I had no idea what was the final result but that I thought it ended as a draw. He then proceeded to ask me if I was a true Villa fan or not so I pointed out I was a Burnley supporter and he then looked sheepish.
It wasn't until I got back to my car that it sunk in that he must have been completely clueless - the shirt I wore yesterday was the Black away shirt and had no resemblance to anything to do with Villa at all.

Burnley ASDA is 11-5 whereas Colne ASDA is 10-4
