Re: Sir Mo
"Sir Mo" is great for me. Mo Farah arrived in UK as a youngster from Somalia. He's achieved his athletic success with lots and lots of hard work. He's represented the UK with style. He's entertained us all with his running. He fully deserves his knighthood - if we accept the honours system in the UK (I'd prefer we didn't have it, but I'd rather we recognise athletes than politicians and civil servants and select business men) - so, why shouldn't he "show it off" on his shirt.

Re: Sir Mo
No. Some young kid arrives in the UK, grows up with "no advantages" - except he can run. Of course we should all celebrate that Mo Farah has represented his country with so much success - and "Sir Mo" has every right to say thank you and to recognise his pride in the country's pride in his success.kaptin1 wrote:Farah running in the Great North Run with “Sir Mo” plastered across his front. Declaring a little interest: Sir Mo's golden post-box is near where I live. Much rather "Sir Mo" than a single one of the "Sir/Lord/Lady..." that only get the honour from being "in politics" or a civil servant.
EDIT: and I've read the rest of the posts - and seen that this was originally a Sunday 9 Sept 2018 thread - and I posted almost exactly the same last time.
OK, no one can say I'm not consistent!

Re: Sir Mo
He's been knighted for being top of his profession, for that reason I have no issue him displaying Sir Mo on his number. His Mrs had "Lady Farrah" on hers, now that is a WTF moment if ever I saw one.
By the way, I entered the ballot to run it again this year, I didn't get in for the third year running. I bet "Lady Farrah" didn't have to enter the ballot
I'm not bitter though

She was born in London.
She's supported him and his career during their time together and raised their kids when he's away training / competing etc.
If she wants to wear something saying Lady Farah then I think she's earned the right too tbh.

Re: Sir Mo
I am remain I just dont like Mo Farah. His attitude stinks and if you ever have watched athletics you will know they call Haile Gebrslassie the gentleman of athletics. Below is what happened at his hotel when Mo decided to visitDefourFiveSix wrote:Defo a Brexit voter. What a load of nonsense
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.telegr ... rgled/amp/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He was the only athlete for years who was allowed to go where he wanted on training camps whereas all other british funded athletes were kept on tight leashes. His coach for many years Salazer is as dodgy as they come and been banned from coaching many nations athletes.
Then theres the two missed tests right before London 12 that were conveniently brushed under the carpet. If he was Russian he would of been banned

Re: Sir Mo
Well he should fund his own training camps if the ones supplied by the our athletics committee arent up to his standards. No other athlete is allowed to do it. We have many athletes living on next to nothing and leaving the sport they love because of funding problems but we can fund Sir Mo and his huge entourage to live in America. Training in places like Somalia and Ethopia also where he knows he can not be randomly drug tested as often as he should beRileybobs wrote:“Only uses this country to feed his ego”. How’s that then? Plus the best long distance runners are usually from that part of Africa, their genetics actually give them an advantage for starters incase you aren't aware, so training there will also help him.

Come on if any other athlete from another country had missed so many drugs tests we would have people applauding our athletes for refusing to share podiums with them
