Coventry Evening Telegraph

Post by Walton » Wed Jan 24, 2018 10:57 am

No, they're not linking us with anyone, but I saw last night that the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building is open to the public.

Someone on Twitter had a wander around with a camera, and has taken some brilliant photos. I've included a couple in this post, but it really is worth scrolling through the entire Twitter thread to see it in all its glory.

It's very Mad Men-esque, except set in a brutalist post-war Midlands.

Cool pics on that thread. is it actually open, or did he just access it himself?

It's fully open for a short while, before it closes and becomes a hotel.

@CETpopup on Twitter has more info

My first office job was in Joseph's Well in Leeds which had last been refit in the 60s.

Had those lifts with the grille thing instead of a door, and these really long corridors which reminded me of the Shining. Bizarre place, which I assume was cheap rent.

Love this kind of stuff.

One of my favourite websites is 28dayslater.co.uk which is full of buildings that have been left alone, urban explorers have then been in and taken pictures.

I went up to a closed school a few years ago. Pretty much every room had been wrecked.
