Maybe your life sucks....
Re: Hang the DJ
If the "music" that was being "sung" in Burnley town centre this afternoon said anything to me about my life, then it wouldn't be the DJ I would be hanging ...

Isn’t that song The Smiths nod towards the crimes of Jimmy Savile?

I think Morrissey wrote in response to the way the cheesy radio 1 djs just brushed over serious news story's.i think Tony Blackburn read out a bullitan about Chernobyl with no care and then just happily played a cheesy song. Sommat along those lines anywaymealdeal wrote:Isn’t that song The Smiths nod towards the crimes of Jimmy Savile?

Yep pretty much, but it was apparently Steve Wright (of course) who played a Wham track straight after. I think it’s become one of those urban legends really and was more just about how shite and vapid a lot of music was at the time.Devils_Advocate wrote:I think Morrissey wrote in response to the way the cheesy radio 1 djs just brushed over serious news story's.i think Tony Blackburn read out a bullitan about Chernobyl with no care and then just happily played a cheesy song. Re: Hang the DJ
I’d say zero chance. I can’t believe Morrissey, greedy ******* that he is, will ever be in need of cash enough to share a stage with Joyce and Rourke.
I’m not sure Johnny Marr would be too keen on working with Morrissey again given some of his more recent political comments. They are completely poles apart these days.

Re: Hang the DJ
I think the rumour about it being a veiled expose of Savile started after his death, so people fitting the lyrics to the crime. Nevertheless it is quite strange when you look at the lyrics in isolation, it could be a snipe at the mid 80s vacuous Radio 1 DJs, as well as being about Savile.Swizzlestick wrote:Yep pretty much, but it was apparently Steve Wright (of course) who played a Wham track straight after. I've finished with clubs where the music's loud cause i don't see a face in a single crowd, there's no one there.

Re: Hang the DJ
all DJ's with no exception are *****. whether it be commercial radio, local radio, national radio, or your cousins wedding.
The modern era of them a headliner
is pure comedy. an anyone who has indulged in Ibiza style experiences is no better than a dog ****.
the commercial stations particularly employ the dregs of society, and play for the dregs of society.

Have to agree on Ibiza. Shamefuly on the first of two visits there I did rather enjoy myself. But vowed never to go back. And only had to for a wedding!
Though the modern Ibiza crowd are the absolute polar opposite of anything I could ever wish to be.

Funny how older people always say it was better in their day, everything from music to life in general. Rose tinted glasses must make Specsavers a fortune.
Re: Hang the DJ
Wile is absolutely bang on with his comments, this bunch of egotistical attention seekers and music interrupters are number 1 on my room 101 list, a bunch of rotting pilchards.
