This idea is being mooted in France by a couple of the candidates who're bidding to win the socialist party leadership election.

I expect it is inevitable given the automation arguments above, but we're nowhere near needing it yet.

My job is classified as somewhere in the middle when you look at a list of jobs most and least likely to become automated in the near future. Generally, the more people have to think creatively the longer it will take for it to be automated.
