Blackpool remain firm favourites to win the Youth Alliance League after a Saturday in which all four candidates for the title won away games at Accrington, Tranmere, Morecambe and Wrexham.

harry limb signsThose results have now ruled out any other winners this season with Port Vale, in fifth place, now unable to catch leaders Blackpool whose 2-0 win at Accrington took their points total to 53 with three games remaining.

Our 4-2 win at Tranmere kept us within three points with a game in hand although, with Blackpool’s much superior goal difference, the lead is virtually four points. Then come Rochdale and Walsall. Both have played the same number of games but both trail us by four points.

They both lost ground last midweek, losing games you would have expected them to win, but both picked up three points on Saturday with Rochdale winning 1-0 at Morecambe and Walsall securing an easy 5-0 win at Wrexham.

This midweek will see all of the three chasing clubs play their games in hand and all three are tomorrow. Again we’re all away and again we all play teams towards the bottom. Rochdale travel to fifth from bottom Accrington, who have won just two points from their last 13 games, and Walsall are at Morecambe. Burnley meanwhile travel to Wrexham.

That will leave all of us with three games remaining but none of us play this weekend when the only game will be between Accrington and Wigan.

All last week’s results are below as are this week’s fixtures, Burnley’s goalscorers and the current league table.

The League Table is updated as results are confirmed and can be found with our Fixtures and Results within U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
