For a second summer Burnley have been linked with a move for midfielder Sam Clucas although reports today suggest that there is no deal close although the club are currently monitoring the situation.

It was mid-August last year that we were reported to have made a £10 million offer for the then Hull midfielder. That was apparently turned down with Hull moving quickly to try and extend his contract. That failed and soon after he moved to Swansea in a £15 million deal, apparently filling a gap left by the sale of Jack Cork.

With Swansea having gone down, it appeared Burnley could have made a move for him again. That was the news yesterday from Alan Nixon, but the story seems to be that we are monitoring the situation although any deal to bring him to Burnley is not close.

Sean Dyche hinted last Friday, after the game at Cork, that a first signing could be on the way sooner rather than later, although he did say it wouldn’t be that night. At this time, nothing has materialised and we remain one of the three Premier League clubs, the others being Everton and Tottenham, still to make a signing this summer.
