1718 burnley craig ellison 00 500x500Sheffield Wednesday currently head the U18 Professional Development League Group North and travel to Hull City today, but the two teams behind them on goal difference, Nottingham Forest and Burnley meet with a 12 noon kick off.

While Wednesday remain unbeaten, Forest have the same record as us with six wins and two defeats in eight games but they remain above us with a much superior goal difference and today will provide our under-18 team with a big challenge as we continue to play with a number of the squad having moved out on loan.

John Townson, assistant manager of the team, who is currently standing in for the departed Danny Cadamarteri, admitted: “Forest are a good side. They have won a lot of games and four of the last five, but so had Birmingham going into last weekend and we knew that was going to be a tough game. But the lads applied themselves magnificently well and worked incredibly hard for ninety minutes and got the result.”

When the two sides met at Forest last season, a game played in November, they’d just gone top of the league with the young Clarets in fifth place although we were only one point behind Forest.

We won the game 3-2 with goals from Dwight McNeil, Bobby Thomas and Craig Ellison (pictured), a result that took us up one place to fourth but saw Forest slip behind us into fifth place.

Today’s game will be played at the Nottingham Forest Football Club Academy at West Bridgford.
