1718 burnley sean dyche 01 500x500Sean Dyche has confirmed today that those players unavailable last Sunday for the Southampton game will remain so for tomorrow night’s home clash with İstanbul Başakşehir in the Europa League.

Speaking at today’s press conference, he confirmed that both Robbie Brady and Steven Defour remain out of the reckoning whilst, having played two days ago, Matěj Vydra will play again next week for the under-23s against Coventry.

He said: “We’re being more careful than we normally would. We’re playing teams that are right, there has to be a balance but it’s hard to find. Vydra is catching up. He hasn’t played a lot of football at Derby in the pre-season and hadn’t trained with the first team as much as you normally would. He got a game in on Monday and will get another next week. We’re being careful with him.”

He spoke earlier in the week about Brady and Defour, and reiterated: “Robbie and Steven still aren’t quite right. with them involved you look a more balanced group.”

On the subject of the keepers, Dyche said: “The debate on goalkeepers has been quite interesting. It’s pretty simplistic. Random injury to Popey, Anders has a thigh, Tom has a calf. It’s not rocket science, I’m pleased with the business.”
