Roger East, from Wiltshire, will be the man in charge of our final game of the 2015/16 season when he referees our 46th league game against Charlton Athletic at The Valley tomorrow lunchtime.

He’ll be the man tasked with ensuring Burnley get ninety minutes to beat Charlton and claim the title but he might have to dodge sprouts, beach balls, balloons and various other objects as the home fans demonstrate.

He’s only in his ninth season as a league referee after joining the Football League in 2007 while he moved into the Premier League in 2012 with a problematic game between Swansea and Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium.

He refereed our FA Cup tie at Arsenal back in January and the home game in the same competition a year earlier. He also refereed our Premier League game at Southampton last season but his last Burnley game in the Football League was our 3-3 draw at QPR in February 2014.

He started this season with three Football League games, one in each division, but since then has only once refereed another Football League game, that the Championship game between QPR and Birmingham in February.

He’s refereed a total of 36 games in which there have been 104 yellow cards and two red cards. Of the yellows, 40 have gone to home team players and 64 to away team players. He sent off Portsmouth’s Enda Stevens in his first game of the season with his second yellow card coming in his last match when he dismissed Liverpool’s Brad Smith for a second yellow card last week in their 3-1 defeat at Swansea. Also yellow carded in that game were Swansea’s Angel Rangel and Jack Cork and both Nathaniel Clyne and Martin Skrtel of Liverpool.

Roger East is 38th in RATE THE REF with a rating of 58.63 out of 100. He is the second lowest of the Premier League referees with only Jon Moss behind him.

The assistant referees are Derek Eaton (Gloucestershire) and Andy Garratt (West Midlands). The fourth official is Gavin Ward (Surrey) whose only Burnley game was the 1-0 home win against Crystal Palace in January 2013.
