Spurs game moves to Sunday
Burnley’s game against Tottenham Hotspur will now be played on Sunday 27th August with a 4 p.m. kick off at Wembley.
The game was originally scheduled for the previous day but that clashed with the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final which is at Wembley that day. There were concerns that we would be pushed into switching the fixtures, as we did with Liverpool again last season. Had we done that it would once more have given us four successive away games, this time at Brighton, Tottenham, Manchester United and Huddersfield, the last four fixtures of 207.
Another alternative was to call off the Wembley fixture and play it at a later date in midweek but that would not have benefited our supporters wishing to travel to the game.
Having given Spurs a home fixture on that weekend, knowing that Wembley was unavailable on the Saturday, this, from Burnley’s point of view, is the best solution.
