1415 burnley ashley barnes 00 630x420Ashley Barnes remains out of the reckoning for the Clarets against Hull City this weekend with the hamstring injury he sustained in the pre-season friendly at Bradford City on 23rd July, almost seven weeks ago.

Sean Dyche confirmed this afternoon that he’s still with what he described as a niggly hamstring. “Barnesy has a slight niggle and we are having to be careful with that, but everyone else is well,” he said.

Reading between the lines, it looks as though record signing Jeff Hendrick won’t be in the staring eleven either, of him, Dyche said: “Jeff has literally come in on Thursday (today) after having an up and down pre-season with coming back late from the Euros, then getting injured and moving here. We will be looking forward to seeing how he settles into the group.

“Patrick (Bamford) hasn’t played as much first team football for Chelsea, but he’s been playing football nonetheless, so he is generally fit. It’s important to get them to know how we work, but they will be in the thinking.”

The manager added: “I have a team in my own mind, but they are fit and well and adapting to what we do.”
