Still waiting to pop the Cork
After what was perceived as a slow start, Burnley’s summer recruitment has almost gone into overdrive since the players returned for training last Thursday with Charlie Taylor and Jonathan Walters having arrived from Leeds and Stoke with a strong belief that Swansea midfielder Jack Cork could be the next through the door in becoming a Burnley player.
The speculation regards Cork started at the end of last week via a post on a Swansea message board and quickly gained momentum. By Sunday it looked as though we were in with a good chance which improved through Monday until pictures circulated around social media of him sat at an airport with Burnley’s player liaison officer Matt Hockin seemed to confirm things. And was that Matt Williams, the head of football and governance sat across from them?
Today it is just about waiting I think. I am sure everyone now is of the belief that Jack will once again be a Burnley player, this time permanently on a four year deal. Has he had his medical here or in Ireland? Have terms been agreed? Is the fee as low as £6 million plus the add ons? When will he be joining up with the squad?
We’re still waiting but it is looking increasingly likely that we will be popping this Cork very soon. And then the work can continue with other targets.Share this page :
