tarkowski vokesFollowing the news that Kevin Long, Stephen Ward, Jeff Hendrick and Jon Walters had all been called up by the Republic of Ireland comes news that James Tarkowski and Sam Vokes have been called up for England and Wales.

Tarky won his first England cap last March against Italy and was placed on standby for the World Cup before dropping out to have hernia surgery, but he’s been named in Gareth Southgate’s first England squad since that World Cup for the two games coming up next month.

England play Spain in the Nations League on Saturday 8th September at Wembley before moving to Leicester’s King Power Stadium for a friendly against Switzerland on Tuesday 11th.

Meanwhile, Vokes is in Ryan Giggs’ squad  for two Nations League games. They are at home against Ireland on Sunday 9th September and two days later play in Denmark
