1516 burnley tommy wood 00 630x420There will be no Sky cameras tomorrow morning when Burnley again take on Accrington Stanley in a cup tie; this time it is the Youth Alliance Cup, the first of three group games each side plays.

Our draw last week against Preston was added to two wins in games against Fleetwood and Tranmere to give us seven league points. Accrington’s start was delayed by a trip to Holland and they finally kicked off last Saturday with a 1-0 win against Port Vale.

We played them at the first round stage of the competition last season at Burnley Belvedere. A drab match looked to be moving towards a 0-0 draw but once Accrington took the lead it kicked us into life and goals from Tommy Wood (pictured) and Khius Metz saw us go through 2-1.

But they did the double over us in the league. We lost the home game 2-0 and then were beaten 3-1 in the return fixture with our goal coming from Tristan Jumeau. Accrington ended last season some 16 points ahead of us in the Youth Alliance League.

The game will not be played at Accrington. It will kick off tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Victoria Park, the home of Nelson Football Club who have confirmed that it is free entry.
