Burnley’s win against Ipswich Town last Saturday in the U18 Professional Development League kept us in third place n the U18 Professional Development League, one point behind leaders Sheffield United and below Nottingham Forest on goal difference.

1718 burnley terry mupariwa 00 500x500Leaders Sheffield Wednesday retained their one point lead at the top with a comprehensive 4-0 win against Charlton while Nottingham Forest were 2-1 winners at Bristol City, thus retaining their superior goal difference.

Leeds are ones to be watched too. They beat Watford, who beat us a week earlier, 5-1 to stay fourth. They, like us and Forest, have lost once but are three points behind with a game in hand. Sheffield Wednesday, however, remain the only unbeaten team in the northern group, something shared with south group leaders Cardiff who haven’t as yet dropped a point.

Overall, it was a good week for the north group. In the eight games played there were five wins, three draws and not a single defeat and it was a week when both Hull, in the north, and south group team Colchester earned their first points, Hull drawing at home against QPR and Colchester drawing at Barnsley.

The north v south games are put to bed for a while now as teams start to play teams in their own group and there are a full set of fixtures this Saturday with five north v north games and five south v south.

We travel to Sheffield United who have only played three games to date, two less than us. They’ve won one, drawn one and lost one. And we know a win will see us move up the table with the two teams above us playing each other.
