1718 burnley michael fowler 00 500x500Having played the last two games away, against Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest, the under-18s are back at Gawthorpe tomorrow afternoon with a home game against Hull City.

On paper it is the easiest of home games against a team still searching for a first league win of the season who are already eight points adrift at the bottom of the league, but, despite our 100% home record, this is a fixture that can so easily become a banana skin.

Those two away fixtures have given us a further four points with a win at Birmingham followed by last week’s draw at Forest but at home it has been wins all the way. We’ve already beaten Charlton, Coventry, Ipswich and Barnsley in the league and won a Lancashire Youth Cup tie against Bolton to add to that.

Hull’s two points came in successive games in September. They drew 1-1 at home against QPR on the 8th and a week late secured a 0-0 draw at Barnsley. They’ve played three times since, losing at home against Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday either side of a defeat at Leeds.

Last season, this fixture was the penultimate game of the season and ended in a 4-1 win for the Clarets. Michael Fowler (pictured) returned from injury and ended the season with five goals in two games. He netted a hat trick in this game with Tristan Jumeau also on the scoresheet with his last goal for the club.

Please note, tomorrow’s game kicks off at 12 noon and not the usual 11 a.m.
