1920 burnley rob harker 00 500x500A 1-1 draw at Millwall in the first game of the season was followed by the same scoreline when we played Coventry last Monday at home; now we go to Colchester United as we look for that first win in 2019/20 in the Professional Development League.

We led at Millwall to a Bobby Thomas goal but had to earn a point through Tunde Bayode last Monday in a game that we dominated and should have won comfortably.

This afternoon we travel to Colchester’s training ground at Florence Park to take on a side whose only game this season ended in a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Wigan two weeks ago.

To get a win we will have to do something that hasn’t previously happened in this fixture and that’s the away team scoring a goal. In our first season in the league, in 2017/18, we were beaten 1-0 at Colchester. We also played them in the Premier League Cup, winning 4-0 at home with a Nahki Wells hat trick and a goal from Tinashe Chakwana but we then went on to lose the away game 3-0, a result that effectively prevented us from reaching the knock out stage.

Last season the league game against them was at home and the final home game of the season. We won that 3-0 with Rob Harker (pictured) scoring twice and Ben Woods, then an under-16 player, also on the scoresheet.

Kick off today at Florence Park is 1 p.m.
