Sam Vokes will be a Burnley player until 2019

Sam Vokes has signed a new deal with the Clarets until the end of the 2018/19 season which will take his stay with us up to seven years since he arrived on a permanent basis from Wolves in the summer of 2012 after a previous loan.

He’s full recovered from the cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out of the side in the promotion run in and then the first half of the Premier League season and he’s now forming a good partnership with Andre Gray.

Vokes said: “It’s great news to sign a new deal, I’m really happy here and to commit my future is a great feeling. This is a club that I feel is going to get back where we were last season and being part of the last promotion, I feel the squad we have now has a real chance of that.

“You see where the club is going with a new training ground that is being built and it’s fantastic to be part of the group. I really feel at home here now so for the next three and a half years it will be good to kick on.”

“When I moved here the first time around it felt like a great place to be and with the strides the club has made, they’ve showed what it’s about to be involved at Burnley.”

He added: “It’s what we all want out of this season, to be back up there for the next few years and that’s what I want to achieve while I’m here.

“The fans, the club and the staff make this a great place to come to work. Andre and the rest of the squad are a good strong unit and I really feel we can make further strides with that.”
