We are one year old
Up the Clarets is one year old today. We launched at 7 a.m. on Thursday 21st January 2016 after the site and message board had been set up and tested in just under a month.
A small group of Clarets set about the testing from Christmas onwards and then, on the morning of the 21st, helped get the news out that there was a new dedicated Burnley FC site. At the time it had virtually no content other than the fixtures and results, some ticket information and the league table which, at the time showed Burnley in fourth place in the Championship behind Middlesbrough, Hull and Derby.
By the end of day one we had almost 750 signed up members on the message board and that figure had almost doubled by the time I was penning my first match report after we’d beaten Derby 4-1 on the Turf.
Without Andy (DiBraidio) this site would never have happened and I’ll forever be in his debt for his efforts in getting us up and running in such a short space of time and then keeping us up and running.
Others, particularly jdrobbo and MDWat, were a great help with the testing and jdrobbo took charge of getting the news out on launch day which led to the great early uptake. Thanks too, to Andy Ashworth, Dave Thomas and all the others who have contributed to the site in terms of articles and match reports which are always very much welcome and appreciated. I’d also like to thank our advertisers who have supported the site in the last year.
My thanks finally, and so importantly, to those who have signed up to use the message board and to those who visit the site. Your fantastic response has made it all worthwhile.
Like Burnley Football Club, the site has been on the up since and long may that continue.Share this page :
