We know how to use that Premier League buzz to our advantage
Huddersfield Town, promoted last season, are our opponents tomorrow and it gives their manager David Wagner a first visit to Turf Moor. He was in charge there when we played them away in the 2015/16 season but the home game against them was just days before Chris Powell lost his job.
Ahead of the game he has said: “Every game is a game which excites us and is an opportunity. We have a chance, like we have in every game, but we have to be focused and do everything right.
“I don’t look too far ahead but it is all about Burnley on Saturday. We will take every opponent, it makes no sense to prioritise any game in the Premier League. We have a chance in each, some bigger than others.”
“Just getting the early points on the board allows you to relax a little more and focus on the football. The players start to believe more and the fans start to believe more but there are no guarantees. Early points give you more freedom, as you’re more confident in the results you can produce. You simply want points whenever they come.
“We are full of belief this season due to our great start, and that’s something I’m looking to build on. We’ve not had the easiest run of fixtures but the mentality with the players is good. They are in control and understand exactly what we need to do to maintain that mentality. I keep asking the boys to keep pushing themselves, to keep trying to move forward.
“We are able to control our emotions in a way which can help the club move forward game on game. We are looking to keep that level of excitement in our second seas. We know we have to be on top of our game, but we also know how to use that Premier League buzz to our advantage.”
Huddersfield have also started well, and Dyche said of them: “They’ve had a really good, well deserved start to life in the Premier League, but there’s some huge challenges coming their way, they need to maintain their open minded attitude.
“Huddersfield are showing that they are willing to take on any challenge that comes their way, and as a club we’ve been eager to keep that mind set here.”
