We know we face a tough game at Tottenham
Burnley take on Spurs tomorrow and another game against Mauricio Pochettino who we first came up against in the FA Cup five seasons ago when he was in charge of Southampton.
Pochettino’s team are currently in good form and now face us after drawing in Barcelona. He said: “We need to play against Burnley like we played against Barcelona, that’s the challenge. The way we are going to approach the game will be key. We need to take the game in the same way and Barcelona with the same motivation, the same energy. The three points we need to win are as important as against Barcelona or any other team.
He added: “Burnley were in a very difficult position but they have very good players and are a team that performed very well last season. They are very tough, plenty of energy and I’m sure this will be a difficult game.”
Sean Dyche saw his Burnley team move out of the bottom three last week with the win against Brighton. He said: “Palace was way off where we are, and we had to grind one out against Brighton which showed some of the details on which we are good at in terms of grittiness, determination and some good pockets of play. It doesn’t answer every question, either from inside the camp from my point of view, or from outside the camp, but it is a fresh start.
“So there have been good reminders, but we know we face a tough game at Tottenham, and we will possibly change the side again because we have done some work this week, so we’ll see. but I want us to take the basics into this performance and yet still have the freedom to open up and show what we can do.
“I know Mauricio works them very hard and he has a very clear view of what he wants. Ironically, the twist in their tale is there was a lot of noise about them not bringing anyone in over the summer, but you can certainly see there is still a more than good, capable side. They are wiser, but they are human beings and sometimes there is a drop-off in the second game in a week, but we can’t rely on that, so we have to go down there and do the basics well.”
