wells waltersBurnley have played a behind closed doors game against Wigan Athletic this afternoon at Gawthorpe and beaten them 2-1 with our goals scored by Nahki Wells and Jon Walters.

The game gave Sean Dyche the opportunity to field some of his first team squad alongside under-23 players against an experienced Wigan side that also included some trialists.

It was all square at 0-0 when the half time whistle blew but Wells opened the scoring with a shot into the bottom corner of the net from 12 yards after receiving the ball from Walters. That lead was doubled on 70 minutes when Walters headed home a Matt Lowton cross although Lowton then conceded a penalty from which Wigan scored their equaliser.

The Burnley team was: Anders Lindegaard, Matt Lowton, Oliver Younger, Scott Wilson, Ali Koiki, Fredrik Ulvestad, Dean Marney, Ashley Westwood, Nahki Wells, Sam Vokes, Jon Walters.
