1516 burnley brandon wilson 00 630x420Brandon Wilson, released by the Clarets in April after three years at Turf Moor, has returned to Australia to link up with his home town club Perth Glory.

Although born in Botswana, Wilson was brought up in Perth, coming to Burnley in the summer of 2013 to begin a two year-scholarship that was extended by a further year during which he spent time on loan with Stockport County.

He didn’t win a professional deal for this season and Perth confirmed today that he has signed with them where he will join Rhys and Aryn Williams.

Rhys, who was with us on loan during the 2008/09 promotion season, has suffered with serious injuries and has returned home having been released by Middlesbrough. Younger brother Aryn, like Wilson, spent three years at Burnley. He was with us between 2010 and 2013 and was right-back in the team that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final in 2012.

On returning home and joining Glory, Wilson said: “Playing in England was a tremendous opportunity to hone my skills, but being back in Western Australia and working under Kenny (coach Kenny Lowe) is what I need to make that next step and hopefully play first team football.

“I’ve known Kenny for many years. He was instrumental in getting me to Burnley and I will never forget what he has done for me. I’m ready to give back to the coach and to this city.”

Wilson has become the 14th member of the squad to have been either born or raised in Perth.
