Youth game against Morecambe moved to Gawthorpe
Burnley play Morecambe for a second time in two weeks tomorrow in the Youth Alliance League. Tomorrow’s is the away game but it has been confirmed today that it will be played at our training ground at Gawthorpe.
We won the home game a fortnight ago 1-0 with a Nashé Chakwana goal early in the second half and although we’ll be favourites again tomorrow, facing Morecambe isn’t the easy game it has been in the past with the Shrimps this season already eight points ahead of the bottom two Carlisle and Wrexham.
We’ll be looking to emulate the team of last season in completing the double. We won the home game 3-2 last season, courtesy of an own goal and further goals from Tristan Jumeau and Tommy Wood, and the away game ended in a 4-1 with goals from Khius Metz, Josh Dolling, Miles Fenton and Tyler Shrimpton.
Overall we have an outstanding record against them at this level since they joined the Youth Alliance League in 2007 following the club’s promotion to the Football League.
In the previous 19 games we have won 17, drawn 1 and lost just 1, that a 1-0 away defeat in 2009/10. Our best result came in the 2009/10 season when we recorded a 9-1 home win against them with Dominic Knowles scoring a hat trick.
Tomorrow gives us a chance to close the gap on the top three even further with two of them, Blackpool and Port Vale, facing each other and Walsall having no game.
Kick off at Gawthorpe is 11 a.m.Share this page :
