1718 burnley craig ellison 00 500x500The first team have no game this weekend due to Chelsea’s involvement in the FA Cup but the youth team will be in action tomorrow morning, weather permitting, with an away game against Coventry City.

We will be looking for a first win since beating Birmingham in mid-January. It’s a run of four draws and three defeats that have seen us drop from top of the league to fifth place. We are now six points behind leaders Bolton who also have a game in hand on us, although we are just two points behind Nottingham Forest who have now moved up to second place.

This period has seen a lot of changes in the team. Members of the youth team have been playing in the under-23s which, in turn, has seen new players coming into Danny Cadamarteri’s squad, some from the under-16s and others, such as striker Craig Ellison (pictured) who was signed from Spennymoor.

Our opponents Coventry haven’t had the best of seasons in the south group. They are marooned at the bottom having lost 18 of their 22 games. They drew last week at Huddersfield to take their points total to ten. The season kicked off with defeats in each of their first ten games but they followed that up with consecutive wins against Cardiff, QPR and Colchester in November and December.

It’s expected to be another young inexperienced team lining up tomorrow. The game will be played at the Alan Higgs Centre, Allard Way, Coventry, CV3 1HW and kick off is 12 noon.
