1718 burnley michael fowler 00 500x500It’s two and a half weeks since our youth team last played, coming back from 2-0 behind to beat Leeds United 4-2, and tomorrow we are back in league action tomorrow with the return of the north v south games which takes us to Millwall.

We go into the game in very good form. We kicked off 2019 with a home draw against Sheffield Wednesday and have since recorded four successive wins leaving us in fourth place and in a very good position to push for a top two place at the end of the season.

We are currently behind Nottingham Forest, who are third, on goal difference and three points behind second place Leeds with Sheffield Wednesday, the current leaders, a further two points ahead.  We do have a game in hand on all of the three teams above us.

Millwall, like us, were without a game last week and that enabled Ipswich to move ahead of them into second place but they remain third and are the only likely contenders to replace either Cardiff or Ipswich in that top two in the south group.

They too have been in excellent form. They kicked off 2019 with a defeat at Ipswich but they’ve since won four games, winning at Coventry while beating all of Watford, Bristol City and Crystal Palace at home.

It will be our first ever league visit to Millwall in this league. Last season’s game against them was at home and provided us with our first ever home win in the U18 Professional Development League, Michael Fowler (pictured) scoring the only goal of the game.

Tomorrow’s game will be played at Millwall’s training ground and kicks off at 11 a.m.
