Youths back up to fourth after win at Hull
Saturday’s 3-1 win against Hull has taken the under-18s back up to fourth in the U18 Professional Development League while giving us our first away victory since the first Saturday in October when we won by the same score at Birmingham.
Jayden Major scored the opener with Will Harris netting the other two in what was a very inexperienced team against the bottom of the table and I would expect a number of changes for tomorrow night’s FA Youth Cup tie against Oxford.
We moved back above Sheffield United; they lost at Crewe and there was also defeat for Sheffield Wednesday who lost for only the second time this season at the hands of Leeds. It’s taken Leeds within three points of Wednesday, and with a game in hand, while Nottingham Forest have now drawn level with the leaders having beaten Bolton.
This was our last league game of 2018 and we could drop back to fifth this week with Sheffield United at home to next to bottom Barnsley. But Barnsley did get a win two days ago, they won 1-0 at Birmingham to complete the north group fixtures.
Cardiff and Millwall, the top two in the south, went goal crazy. Cardiff netted five times against mid-table Charlton and Millwall hit bottom of the league Colchester for seven. Colchester are still searching for their first win; they have just four points from their 17 games in which they’ve conceded no fewer than 65 goals.
Our next league fixture comes on 5th January and it is the home game against leaders Sheffield Wednesday who recently beat us 4-1.
