1920 burnley nejai tucker 00 500x500Last Saturday, the under-18s scored three second half goals to beat Wigan 3-0, followed that up with a 4-1 Lancashire Youth Cup win against Oldham in midweek and we will be looking to make it three wins in a week with tomorrow’s home game against Barnsley.

The two teams sit right next to each other in the U18 Professional Development League table. We are in fourth place with nine points from our six games which have come from three wins and three defeats; Barnsley, in fifth place, have one point less having won two, drawn two and lost two of their six games.

It’s been up and down for us, or more so down and up. We started with two defeats, then won two before losing the next game prior to last week’s win at Wigan. Barnsley are very much recovering from a poor start, they like us lost their first two games and then got off the mark with a draw at Charlton.  Since then they’ve won home games against Coventry and Bolton either side of a draw at Ipswich.

Previous home games in this league against Barnsley have seen us draw one and win one. Two seasons ago a Tristan Jumeau goal helped us to a 1-1 draw but last season we beat them 3-2. Ne-Jai Tucker (pictured), Mitch George and Matt O’Neill were the scorers that day.

Kick off at Gawthorpe tomorrow is 11 a.m.
