A 3-0 win against Fleetwood last Tuesday in the Central League Cup was followed today with a 3-1 win against Everton in what was our first ever game in the U18 Premier League Cup.

It was Everton who had the first big chance to go ahead when they won a penalty but it was a chance spurned when Katia Kouyate blazed the spot kick high over the bar.

When our chance came, we did take it; Michael Mellon (pictured) hitting a shot over the advancing Everton goalkeeper to give us the lead, one we kept until half time although Mellon had a second ruled out for offside.

It was us who struck first in the second half when substitute Wiktor Gromek set up under-16 Ryan Tioffo to score from close range although Everton quickly reduced the arrears with a goal from Isaac Heath.

But Burnley and Mellon had the final word with the striker getting his second to make it 3-1, this one with a strike from the edge of the box, and right at the end it was almost four with Nathan James seeing his header come back off the post.

The Burnley team was: Charlie Casper, Will Couch, George Walters, Jack Leckie, Dan Sassi, Nathan James, Sonny Pickup (Wiktor Gromek ht), Joe Bauress, Ryan Tioffo (Kade Ratchford 67), Michael Mellon, Jacson Coppack.
