A win at Wigan for the under-21s
Goals from Dara Costelloe and Benn Ward have given the under-21s a 2-0 win at Wigan this afternoon in the Professional Development League.
Burnley fielded a strong team defensively, with long serving Kevin Long lining up alongside summer signings CJ Egan-Riley and Luke McNally. Otherwise, it was a regular looking under-21 team that took to the field at the DW Stadium.
Our opening goal came just past the hour when Ne-Jai Tucker played in Dara Costelloe (pictured) to slide the ball in for the opener. The second came six minutes from time. It gave Tucker a second assist of the afternoon, this time from a corner that was headed home by substitute Benn Ward.
It’s taken our current run to four wins and a draw in our last five league games.
The teams were;
