1920 burnley adam phillips 01 1000x600Adam Phillips has been training with the under-23 squad since the start of pre-season and played in the game in Poland along with those closer to home at Stalybridge, Bamber Bridge and Cheltenham and now the former Liverpool and Norwich midfielder has signed a deal with the Clarets.

Phillips, from Garstang, was in the academies at Blackburn Liverpool but moved to Norwich for two years but has returned to the North West and has signed a one year deal with an option for a second year.

An England under-16 and under-17 international, he said: “I’m delighted to get a deal. There’s been a lot of hard work. I went to Poland, which was a really good tour, and then I’ve come back here and really enjoyed it and had a few games as well. I can’t wait for the season to start now and hopefully we’ll have a good start and I’ll get some games under my belt.

“It’s quite a young squad and hopefully I can help out a few of the younger lads moving forward. It’s a good group and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”

the 21-year-old Phillips has already played first team football for Cambridge and Hamilton Academicals, two clubs he spent time with on loan from Norwich and he added: “Hopefully I can get a chance to push on and hopefully get a chance to train with the first team and show the first-team manager what I can do. That’s what I’m here for to try and get as high up as I can and keep enjoying my football.”

Up the Clarets wish Adam the very best at Turf Moor.
